In the end, (for us) this product has gotten better with time and we're very happy with the result. Yes, I'd buy it again.
I *love* the look of this sofa. It is the perfect size, color and shape for my space. The price is VERY good.
But there's a price to be paid for that price and I am seriously torn as to how to rate this item.
My sofa had three manufacturers defects. On the arm, one of the tuft points wasn't caught by the button. Two of the buttons were misplaced on the back of the seat (shifted to the left) and this caused the fabric to be shifted and wrinkled. One of the front legs looked like it was sawn off with a hack saw (where it meets the sofa) instead of cut smoothly.
In addition to that, both arms and the back are pressed VERY flat. We're working it, hoping it'll pop up. Obviously boxes were stacked on top of it for a long time.
And the weirdest problem were the screws on the legs. They were *BADLY* rusted. I scrubbed them with steel wool to remove the rust and reveal the threads. A touch of WD40 and they were like new again. But I've NEVER seen a new item with rust like that.
After much debate, we decided to let it all go. We fixed the rust, the arms do seem to be popping up and you can't see the hacked wood once the leg is screwed on.
That leaves us with the two misplaced buttons on the back of the seating area and the one that missed the tuft on the arm.
I've decided that I can live with it. I plan on making throw pillows for the seat anyway and, if anyone is picky enough to examine the tufts, then I need to know about it because they aren't my friend.
Honestly, I'm too tired with the move to mess with it and I may regret not sending it back down the road.
I agree with many here, the delivery is horrible. Don't get me wrong, the person who delivered our sofa was wonderful. But all they'll do is drop a giant box right inside your door. (My guy felt horrible about it.) The mess was horrible and now we have a huge box and a ton of styrofoam to deal with.
You're not allowed to inspect the item, only the box it came in. NO HELP.
I've gotten 'white-glove' delivery service for about the same price that we're charged for the miserable 'threshold delivery'. I know it can be better.
Long story short: You're not paying for perfection. You're paying for the cheapest version of an expensive item. Expect imperfections. If you want solid sheets of leather and flawless construction, pay $1000 more.
But it is a beautiful, comfortable, lovely sofa. Very solid and sturdy. No flex when you lift a corner and no creaking when you sit on it. The back is very nice so you can put it in the middle of the room without an issue. I'm still smiling when I look at it and I spent an hour reading in it last night. The cushions are firm, but not hard. Just right. The color is so much better than in the photos. It is an even brown. It's about the same color as a good quality cocoa. It strong light, you can see some of the variations of the leather, but it's subtle.
Oh! And the front legs have pretty little wheels! It's easy to move for cleaning and very cute.
It's a little deep to just sit in normally, but that's what throw pillows are for. (I finally have an excuse for throw pillows!)
So I'll knock off a star for the defects and another one for poor storage and delivery.
And if the little flaws start to bother me, I'll just remind myself that with the money I saved by buying the knock-off, I was able to buy a 55" LED TV. Suddenly a few misplaced wrinkles don't look so bad!
With proper care (we no longer have kids or pets) I can see this lasting for many years.
Final note, I didn't give the company the chance to fix any of this, so I don't know how they'd do. But, because of all the issues, I'm hesitant to buy from them again.
Four stars for the amazon price for the quality. Easy assembly. Damage free delivery.
If anything, my only reservation of complete 100% satisfaction on arrival is that the natural linen color reflects more of a grey hue than tan. Although, either way the natural linen provides a perfect backdrop for almost any color accent pillows to coordinate with your room. Go ahead...order it!
