Yes, there are fancier tire gauges than this old-school "stick" model. Electronic gauges, gauges with tire inflators, etc.---all of which our household does own. But sometimes you just want something completely simple, that doesn't rely on a battery, that fits in the glove compartment, and is accurate enough to get you back on the road: this tire gauge is all that. Even a teen can operate this thing!
As for accuracy, I'm not going to swear this particular gauge is perfect. It does give consistent readings on multiple checks, but measures pressure slightly differently than the electronic one I own---who's to say which one is right? We're not driving high-performance race cars here, we just need to know whether we've got an emergency tire problem or just a cold-weather situation that calls for an eventual pressure top-up.
Since there is variability in measurement, you often have to use multiple attempts at multiple angles to get the correct reading. There will never be an over estimation of tire pressure, to the highest value achieved is the actual tire pressure.
I thought i lost my first Gorilla tire gauge, so i bought a second one. Tested both in all 4 tires, both are calibrated perfectly.
Would definitely recommend!
