Top Customer Reviews

Format: Paperback
This is a great commentary that integrates heavyweight learning with a 'light touch' style of communication. Clearly the fruit of great scholarship, this commentary is easy to follow. Its focus is largely upon how Luke marshalls his material to address the concerns faced by the Christian communities in which he moved, and the result is a highly contextual commentary. It follows a largely conventional interpretive approach, but there are still surprise moves and novel insights along the way. It works well as a preacher's commentary, but won't do all your work for you! The reader is rather drawn into Luke's world and invited to encounter the Christ he portrayed.
