About the author

A writer who is definitely of the world about which she writes—she attended a fancy Manhattan prep school and lived to tell all about it. She walks the walk and talks the talk, so her characters and their conversations and antics ring completely true.

These books are so addictive, I just wish there was a little more substance and something morally redeemable about them, instead of being such a guilty guilty pleasure.
This is the seventh novel in the popular GOSSIP GIRL series that follows the antics of a group of rich Upper East Side private school students. The series is much closer to SEX AND THE CITY than CATCHER IN THE RYE but the scandals and escapades of spoiled brat teens will keep even the least literary 15 and up turning the pages to find out what they will get into next. As the series progresses their antics get wilder and funnier as the students get giddier as they see the end of their high school years approaching.
The book Nobody Does It Better, by Cecily von Ziegesar, has been considered a great young adult book by critics. The critics were right on the dot this time! It is considered "Sex and the City" for the younger set. Nobody Does It Better is filled with exciting events that surprise the reader. The location is the "Big Apple," or what most people call New York. It's about seniors in high school who are going absolutely crazy about college. Deciding on which school to go to, anxiously waiting to get off the wait list, or even deciding whether to go to college at all.
Most seniors have decided that their high school career's done. Now it's time to party, shop, and hook up. The seniors aren't the only ones having fun, a considered innocent freshmen and other new characters show up which makes things more interesting than ever!
Von Ziegesar's style is very unique. In each chapter it always starts with a different character and by the end, in some bizarre way, they all end up coming together. This is the seventh installment of the many other books in the "Gossip Girls" series. It is considered the #1 New York Best Times best selling series. Most readers would have to agree.
The "Gossip Girls" series are very popular with teen girls. Every teen girl wish to be a Manhattan girl, a girl who gets anything and everything they can possibly dream of. The seniors may go to all girls and all boys private schools, but that doesn't always mean that they're little angels. This book is recommended to Young Adults who want to read about "Life in the Big City!"

Spoilers ahead!!!
J was made into a complete two dimensional slut, S wanna be, everything she tried not to be in the earlier books! D wasn’t even trying, honestly, what was that except embarrassing? B got into Yale essentially by the deus des machina writing tactic when there were so many other ways she could have legitimately gotten in, including having daddy buy her way in. Having a random Yaley seeing her help her mom doing breathing exercises as the hospital and writing in to gossip girl to give B a boost? The doctor didn’t even know B wanted to go to Y. Laaaaame plot device. It would have been better if she had black mailed the 38 year old friend of her dad’s into writing her a letter when he pressured her into nearly having sex with him?? I mean, he had a family and his daughter was in her peer tutor class, how easy would it be to say, ‘you get me into Yale or I tell your daughter what a creepy perv you really are!’
The attempts to make flakey B noble and noble S flakey go against the grain and I think they’re writing them that way to make them more like the actors on the tv show.
S started off being such a sweetheart and they have worked hard in this book and the prequel to make her conniving and shallow.
When I first started reading these books I was impressed by the author, she made a bunch of shallow, spoiled teenagers into people I rooted for. She managed to show how both boys and girls were abused and neglected and how this affected them In unforeseen ways.
It was a powerful statement that fizzled into a cheesy book of tired stereotypes. I hope the next one is better. Because, wow, this one was sad.
If the original author is writing these she needs to go back and read her own work so she doesn’t contradict herself.
V didn’t win the film contest, S did with her sweetly naive film. She gave away her tickets to Cannes to V and J for helping her. Quit referring to V winning and trying to figure out why V forgot about ‘wowing’ the audience at Cannes with her awful film with the terrible actress because, she didn’t win.
Some of us have reading retention and remember what you wrote and it’s super sad that you of whoever is writing these can’t read well enough to figure out that V didn’t win the film contest. That drove me batty the whole book.
The ending was over the top and kinda weird. Okay, we get it, they’re super rich, you’re kinda going overboard and it didn’t make a lot of sense.
If I were GG, I’d say the author was running out of ideas and I could think of a dozen better things to do for grad than an all girl facial organized by K and I!!
