Editorial Reviews

Did you think health care reform has been resolved? Think again. A 2007 U.S. Census report shows that 47 million Americans did not have health care insurance. A 2009 Harvard University study indicated that 45,000 Americans die annually (15 times the number killed in 9/11) for lack of health care. The day after The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed by Congress in March 2010, 22 million Americans still remained without health care. In August 2010 that number rose to 27 million. Meanwhile the health care insurance industry continues to raise rates by tens of percents. That will put us back above 50 million uninsured in no time. A single payer system is likely the only viable solution. This film tells you why.

This film shows protesters at Los Angeles area health care reform rallies on both sides of the issues as they speak their minds and concerns, juxtaposed against statements by President Obama, revealing some interesting and enlightening information not seen in the news media.

Explanations of what single payer and public options plans, including President Obama's speeches, detail what these plans include. An expose of the anti-reform so called "tea party" (a.k.a. the authoritarian conservative right) shows their reliance on misinformation, lies, and deceptive arguments. Cries of socialism and Hitler are questioned and debunked.

People continue to die in America so the commercial health insurance industry can continue to make exorbitant profits and keep otherwise useless employees at work at the cost of human life to the tune of 45,000 dead per year.

The film is a stream of conversation between protesters and speakers on both sides. It is not formally narrated but instead relies on statements by interviewees. Included are clips from President Obama's White House press conference on health care reform and his Address to a Joint Session of Congress in September, 2009. The film was shot with a consumer HDV camera and without a crew. The filmmaker relied on protest event organizers to provide interesting settings where people gathered with signs, speeches, and even song in protest for health care reform. Over 60 people were interviewed including notable doctors and health care professionals who support a strong health care reform movement.

The second disk contains raw video of interviews with Maureen Cruise, RN; Dr. Jo Olson, and historic speeches by President Obama targeted on health care reform.

This film speaks the truth that the tea partiers don't want to hear. The Pasadena tea party shown in this film think they own the hospitals, as we see by Mrs. Foster speaking as though she is entitled to everything just because she pays for (and can afford to pay for) corporate health care insurance. That woman is pure hatred.

The film is very informative. The nurses speak out on things I never knew, like the fact that dental care is also health care; yet many children have never seen a dentist. Maureen Cruise, RN is fantastic when she speaks out about health care and all the injustices and death we see in America due to denial of care by insurance companies.

First the use of the term Tea Bagger is a derogatory term with oral sex connotations -- just one more way the left is smearing the tea party movement. These people use doublespeak -- putting out propaganda while accusing the other side of propoganda at the same time.
