Goughnuts Sticks Come in Many Sizes - Find the Right one for Your Dog
Our experience shows that by finding the right size of toy, we can effectively provide enjoyable chewing experience for our dogs while also reducing the leverage that they can apply to destroy a toy. A larger toy will lead to chewing with a more open jaw, which limits the force that your chewer can exert in his or her quest to chew through the toy.
Find the Perfect Toughness for your Chewer!
Our rubber engineers design rubber for dog chew toys and spacecraft, and they've put their big brains to work for your pooch! The most aggressive power chewers will appreciate the harder, more durable feel of the Pro 50 Rubber, where slightly less aggressive chewers may enjoy the still-tough-but-slightly-more-give of the original orange and green rubber.

I just got reminded of this review and thought it would be a good time for an update. We did get a replacement from the company (through their mail-in replacement program) and the new one lasted far longer than the original - on the order of about 5 months of daily vigorous (supervised) play. He never lost interest in the toys and would go completely ballistic any time we even made it look like we might be getting down the Goughnuts. I'm a huge fan and will definitely be a life-long customer.
We also ordered another stick from Amazon and correctly received a stick. Not sure what happened that first time. The dog loved both shapes and it was good fun watching him decide which to play with.
Given the improved experience with the replacement product, I'm adding one star to my original rating.
Our dog is a champion chewer to the extreme. No toy survives his jaws for more than a few hours at best. Tennis ball? Demolished in seconds. Pet store toy rated "toughest"? Five minutes, on a slow day. Plastic? Rubber? Kevlar? No match. So when I say this toy lasted five whole days before he tore off a chunk and revealed the red safety core, that really is a testament to the durability of this toy.
Are we disappointed it didn't last longer? Yes - we thought we were going too far starting him on the strongest toy, and even thought there was a chance it could last. Instead we will be giving the lifetime guarantee a try a bit early. You pay postage there and back, so in the end a replacement is about 50% of the cost of a new one on Amazon.
In spite of the cost and short time to failure, we still think this toy is a winner. From the moment the package came in the door, our dog was all over the Goughnuts. I've never seen him this excited about a toy. It was as if he were overjoyed to finally have a toy made for a dog like him. It bounced and rolled through the yard in interesting, if destructive, ways. It's a heavy toy, so be careful where you throw it. Our dog's favorite way to tell us it was time to play was to bring the Goughnuts over and drop it on our feet. Did I mention it's heavy?
If your dog is like ours and can demolish any toy in moments, you may want to keep looking or go with something less expensive. On the other hand, the Goughnuts could last for months or more with a dog less passionate about destruction. We will be giving it another try in hopes it will last a little longer this time.
One final note: somewhat inexplicably, we were shipped a ring instead of a stick. The label said stick, but stick it was not. They were the same price and the dog had already run off with it. Such is life.
It's worth noting that this is not a quiet toy. Like most chews there will be creaks, squeaks, and since it has some heft, slams and thuds. I have to take it away when I take work calls or it sounds like I'm rubbing balloons together. But if you're considering this toy, I assume you are used to these noises. It is silence with toys that is most concerning because it means the toy is broken or swallowed.
Now the REPLACEMENT toy, has been AAAAAmmAAAZZZING. It looks just like the first one, but my pit bull Gus has been enjoying it for over a month now, and hasn't made a single tooth puncture! I can't believe it! I don't know if they sent me a stronger version of the toy, or if I got a knock-off the first time, it looks the same as the first one. But the replacement straight from the Goughnuts factory is absolutely worth every penny of the $44 I've invested into this thing so far!
If you bought one of these toys and were disappointed in how long it lasted, go through the exchange process at least ONCE! I know it's annoying, but it might just be worth it in the end.
