I bought this based on a review and comment about the cauliflower soup. Funny book but I was so annoyed with a sticker pasted on the front cover over the guys face I would have knock off stars for seller if it wasn't a penny. Oh and I would have given five stars "IF" the sticker could be removed without damaging the cover. Although they poke some fun about hillbillies, poor white trash, et cetera, this book actually has some great recipes too. So highly recommend it because we can all use a laugh and a few good recipes, but return it immediately if the same idiot is putting bar codes on the front cover.

There is one recipe in this book that makes the entire book worth the money and worthy of 5 stars... that is the CREAM OF CAULIFLOWER SOUP recipe... I had this book years ago when my children were small, and it was their favorite soup. I lost the book, and the recipe. NO recipe online matched that soup... the kids were so upset that I didn't write it down or remember it (cuz it was really simple). Now they're almost 30 years old, and I bought the book so I could make the soup for them again... Being southern, I smiled a little at the "fake" recipes for roadkill, and found the "poetry" to be overkill, but again... The soup recipe was the bomb.

Full of humorous poetic "recipes" for road kill and the last chapter contained real recipes for wild meats (not necessarily fresh road kill). Meant to be a gag gift, it served its purpose well (along with a batch of venison dry rub).

I can't believe they are asking $849.99 for a 50-page paperback book! And from the picture, I would guess that it's not new, or that it has seen a rough existence... I would recommend buying a used copy or a spiral-bound copy, or maybe a used spiral-bound copy.

This book is a collection of about 38 farcical recipes, written in verse, for the preparation of various animals one might find dead by the roadside, including similar recipes for Poke and other plants.
"Tom Cat -Tom Flat" is my favorite.

There is also a section of what appears to be actual cooking advice and recipes for various wild game, a few less common cuts from more common farm animals, a variety of soups, and more.

At the original 1991 price of $7.95, this entertaining book was a good value.
