First Impression Review
I haven't written typed a review via Amazon in a long time but I had such difficulty finding a smart plug which is compatible with 5G high speed internet, note: that many of the current smart plugs listed here state that they are not compatible with 5G Wi-fi which is usually mentioned in the description of the product page if you "pay attention"
5G Wi-Fi Compatibility
If a smart plug is not able to function out of the box due to wifi compatibility issues this could means potentially having to tamper with router settings this can be frustrating to those who are less tech savvy and may lead to other Wi-Fi enabled devices having difficulty remaining connected hence I wanted to share this review in case someone is relatively new to Smart plug devices as I am, and searching for a brand which is compatible with 5G, and based on my experience as of this review this particular model of Govee plug works with fiber high speed 5G internet "Zero" router tampering required
The plug is currently connected to my LED Lights as shown in the photo which are currently paired with a Google Home device. I did not test the plug with Alexa yet hence I can not share my experience with the Alexa smart devices but the plug paired very easily with Google Home the setup process only took around 10 to perhaps 15 minutes to get things properly set up
App Use & Plug Functionality
I wasn't too excited to download another app to my phone, however. the Govee app works fine as far as I can tell, it's installed on my 2020 phone running Android 11/12. note this is the first impression review meaning I immediately set the plug up after it arrived thus be aware that products such as this may experience some malfunctions over time...
First impression means that I have not used this product for longer than a day as of this review witch isn't enough time to fairly deduce it's long-term functionality over an extended period of time but as of this review everything works fine
Recommendations
I would recommend purchasing at least "one" to test it out first rather than buying in bulk until you know for certain that it will work for your Wi-Fi network, also make sure you're phone is recent enough to work with the app
App Permissions & Safety Concerns
One of many concerns that many of us have when downloading apps are privacy related as many apps require that you allow location settings and Bluetooth etc to function properly. I turned on both features temporarily to get everything set up and turn them off via phone drop down menu afterwards and so far the plug still seems to work fine. I may update this review if I experience difficulties within a week's time. I hope this helps your shopping decision have a great day.
