I was torn between this product and the Phillips Hue. I did end up going with the Govee system because I saw a review saying that the Phillips system won’t work well if you have a Smart TV without an Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, etc already. Not sure if that’s true, but the Govee is also cheaper which was a deciding factor. I would say the LED strips adhere pretty well and I was able to readjust their position 1-2 times with no issue. The control panel it comes with will not stay stuck for more than 10 minutes, but it’s because my TV is textured in the back. I think a command strip would work much better for that. The cons of the Govee system is that it uses a camera to detect your screen so if I have my living room or kitchen light on, the system will be more orange due to the light reflecting on the TV. I knew this going in since there is a TikTok I saw of someone having the same problem with the lamp near their TV. I turned the Saturation all the way down in the Govee app and keep the closest lights off to prevent this.
Another slight complaint I have is that I wish the LED strips had a covering over it to diffuse the light a bit. I can see the individual LEDs when I pass from the side of the TV as seen in the attached picture. I think Govee sells LED Rope lights which can maybe be used instead, but the Phillips system comes with it included, which I didn’t realize before purchasing this.
Overall, this is a very cool gadget and definitely worth it if you don’t mind the flaws I mentioned. However, I think the Phillips Hue system might be worth the couple extra bucks.
