Govinda® brings you the best Palo Santo from Peru. Palo Santo has a heady fragrance of wild vanilla, copal, citrus and sweet esters. Harvested naturally from South America's sacred tree - dead branches only. Light the tip of the stick, let the wood burn for less than a minute and blow out flame. Palo santo may need to be relit many times.

Palo Santo wood has been used for thousands of year by Shamans and Healers among the Inca population. This "holy Wood" is a part of their ceremonies and healing rituals. It provides energetic protection, and removes bad energies. Palo Santo wood is harvested under government supervision by the natives of the Peruvian jungle. No trees are destroyed in the collection of our wood, only twigs and branches on the ground are gathered. The sticks themselves may be lit and will burn for a few seconds to a minute, then extinguish themselves, filling a room with its wonderful fragrance.

This is a poor imitation dressed up with essential oils. I noticed the fake smell as soon as I opened up the box and it smells like cedar wood!?!? I compared this to the palo santo I have at home and it is not the real deal, I even tested it. When I burn PS, I light it between thirty seconds and one minute and blow it out after I get a good smolder going. The smell is powerful, woody, fragrant, and spicy, you can keep the embers going by stoking the flame or blowing on it some, but it dissipates in about 45 secs.
The imitation does not emit any fragrant smoke, it is just like burning fire wood, and it has these weird striations along the length of the wood that I am not accustomed to seeing on genuine PS. I hope this review helps anyone else who is considering purchasing from this company. The deal is too good to be true and you should perhaps try a more moderately, higher priced item available elsewhere or at your local hippie shop.
I just stand the stick up, if I'm not using a small glass bowl, and burn the top like s regular stick incense. I would re-light it just because I like seeing the smoke and the burst of scent, but it lasts for a good time without being a fire hazard. Pleased!
Received it quickly and we'll packaged. The fragrance wafted out of box as soon as I opened it, even though the wood was zip locked Smelled great. Reminded me of high end candles with "manly" fragrances like sandalwood.
It lit quickly and easily with a regular lighter. Flame lasted 10 seconds or so, and it showered for around a minute. I liked the smell a lot and the scent lingered in the room. Prefer it to regular incense that will fill the room with smoke and leave a pile of ash behind.
I used the stick several times over next couple days then decided to pull out a fresh one for another room. Strangely, it didn't smell the same to me. It had a bit of a chemical smell, which has dissipated for the most part as I've used it.
I don't know if it was perhaps a more, or less, resinous part of the wood. I wonder if they are treated with something since they light so easily. The couple pieces that smelled different also seemed to be more flammable on the surface. The flame was bigger and traveled down the stick, whereas the 1st piece just stayed lit at the tip. Maybe some pieces got a heavier fuel treatment ?
Overall, I'm enjoying the incense and would buy again. Will probably try from a different brand for the sake of comparison, but I'd also buy giving a again.
