It's always bittersweet when a series comes to an end, make that a Jennifer L. Armentrout series and it's the very definition of bittersweet. Grace and Glory brings a conclusion to The Harbringer trilogy, but whether it will be the end of this world series is a question that only will time will answer to! We all thought The Dark Elements series ended that world, but we found out otherwise here. And this was such an epic adventure, I would not be surprised if a few years later Jennifer returns.
So, we all remember how Rage and Ruin ended, we were raging, we were ruined...really, the title prepared us. Lol. But Trin knows Zayne isn't gone for good. And he is in fact back, but he's different now, he's a Fallen angel and he has no memories of his friends and family, or Trinity. But Trinity is not accepting no with grace and dignity, she will do everything she has to to reach Zayne and bring him back.
But there's still the fact that the end of the world is at stake. Gabriel still plans to destroy all of mankind and bring Hell to Heaven and you know, utter chaos and destruction. Trinity knows she will have to kill Gabriel before it's too late, that or she'll be used to bring about the end of all things. Roth and Layla are working on the new plan, which involves bringing Lucifer to earth and having him kill his brother, Gabriel.
Well, it honestly shouldn't be too much of a spoiler that eventually, the Zayne we all know and love comes back to himself and to Trinity. I mean, it wouldn't be a JLA book without the spine tingling romance we've all come to adore from her! Zayne and Trinity have more than their share of sizzling moments and woohoo boy! It's hard remembering a time that these two struggled to be together on the most intimate level. They've come a long way since that first book and honestly, I am so happy that Zayne has found happiness with Trinity, that she was always meant to be his destiny. To think...if readers didn't vote for Roth...this might have been a very different story indeed!
What was probably the BEST part of this book was when Lucifer was on Earth and enjoying the new technology and everything the 21st century had to offer...including...wait for it...SUPERNATURAL! Yes, Lucifer manages to get hooked to the show Supernatural and becomes obsessed with his own character. Not only in the way he's portrayed but just everything about the show itself. It's absolutely hilarious! I was dying when he was binge watching episode after episode and wondering why that Lucifer chose to do this and not that, rolling over how his brothers were portrayed and giving Trinity the death glare when she spoils a season finale! Lol. Omg, this was just the best thing ever! You don't really have to know the show in order to grasp what's happening, and plus anyone spoiling a season finale for a favorite show is worthy of a death glare!
This book was extremely well paced too. It was broken down into parts too, we have the need to save Zayne, the planning and what not, then the saving of Zayne, and then trying to plan for the endgame, and then you know the actual endgame. The pacing between each part too was so enticing! You were constantly turning the pages, eager to see what would happen next. Jennifer just has that way about her writing style, she knows how to keep a hold of her readers.
Grace and Glory was the ultimate conclusion to The Harbinger series! It was jam packed with action, tension, romance...everything to create a page-turning, spine-tingling read. It was the best kind of series ender, one that leaves readers hopeful for a brighter future for those left standing and gives just the right tease that maybe this isn't the end of this world either. If you have yet to start this incredible angels/demons/apocalyptic showdown of a series, now is the time! There is nothing better than binge reading a series, let alone one by the ultra talented Jennifer L. Armentrout! This series is pure gold!
Overall Rating 5/5 stars
Grace and Glory releases June 1, 2021
Rage and Ruin left of with such a high and heartbreak my expectations and excitement was through the roof with this conclusion. A bit unfair of me perhaps but those sky high expectations was not met as well as I would have liked. Yes, there was drama and a heartbreakingly beautiful romance. Between that tough, the story kind of stood still for me. It was more of chasing Zayne around and hatching a plan to find and defeat the Harbringer. That is good and all that, but I couldn’t find any interest in it since it felt kind of repetitive. As soon as Zayne “came” back for real though and the romance actually started to bloom out I was fully reeled into the story. If there’s one thing JLA never fails at it’s the romance.
I liked Zayne from the beginning and Trinity with her sight issue and charming awkwardness was a perfect match for him if you ask me. The issues and arguments from previous book made their reunion in Grace and Glory all the more sweeter and had me anticipating every cutsie little moment between them, even when it was such a small thing as holding hands. If there was one thing that could have made it even better, it would have been them finally having a heart to heart about their previous arguments since I feel like they never actually acknowledged or mentioned it ever again. I am still a bit pissed at Zayne for that to be honest so them talking it out would have made it a more satisfying romance for me. It was near perfect as it was though.
While I obviously loved the romance, it didn’t fully save or compensate for the plot. For having kind of a slow poke start the plot in whole and the ending was rushed, or at least that how it came across to me. Mainly because of plot holes and mistakes that I noticed, for example Thierry being Jada’s father instead of her uncle all of a sudden, or Roth having horns when I’m 95% sure he didn’t in the previous series (of course, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong). And the whole “can trueborns reproduce” issue just didn’t make any sense to me, because isn’t that something we already know they can? From book one we learned that people who can see ghosts has an angel somewhere in their bloodline, so why is this suddenly all a mystery? Angel + human = trueborn. Trueborn + human = human with the sight. Where is my math incorrect?
The end fight was also rushed. They quickly knew where Gabriel was and had Wardens and demons along with Lucifer fighting side by side, no issues, no questions asked. The fight even became kind of underwhelming when a certain someone became involved. That along with Lucifer and some other aspects the plot almost became a bit ridiculous for my taste. Not so that it necessary ruined the story, but I certainly cringed a bit at sone parts. To its credit though, it did lead to a pretty intense and beautiful ending of the story with a HEA I was hoping for, almost to the point of it becoming a bit unrealistic, but the bittersweetness of a certain unknown aspect saved it. The only thing that could have med the ending better would have been some information about the spirit Trinity saw in book one, if it was Abbott which I suspect it was. That was kind of left open ended. That issue aside Grace and Glory is a clear four stars.

Firstly let me see that I didn’t love the Harbinger series as much as her From Blood and Ash series. I didn’t even enjoy it as much as Covenant, the Lux series or some of her standalones. But holy smokes this book? Completely changed all that!
I was a little disappointed by JLA’s last book, The Crown of Gilded Bones, I’m not going to lie. Because it felt in that book that the relationship between Casteel and Poppy had stagnated and there was a lot of repetition particularly in the middle of the book where everything dragged. But Grace and Glory? Redeemed everything. I liked Storm and Fury and Rage and Ruin. But I didn’t fall in love with Trinity and Zayne as a couple, or with the first two books like I did with this one.
There’s action aplenty, heartbreak, emotion interspersed with a boatload of humour, and a relationship that you actually believe in. There are side characters that add a million fold to the story, from Roth and Layla to Cayman, Dex and Nikolai and Gideon, plus Lucifer - oh my word, Lucifer! Then the familiars and Michael and Peanut...This story will have you on the edge of your seat, it will have you beside yourself with laughter, it will make you clutch your chest with the ache of heartbreak, and get you falling in love with Zayne. Zayne reminds me of Aiden in Covenant, but in this story he develops more of an edge, which makes him a much more interesting character!
I haven’t bought the physical books of the Harbinger series until now, I only had the Kindle versions. But that is about to change...right now.
God, read this book. It will restore your faith in good books and ignite your love of reading if you found yourself getting a little jaded and apathetic. 10/10 JLA. You gem you!
“I did everything that I could. You did everything that you could. I love you, Trinity, and not even death can break that kind of bond.”
Onto the review… The events of Grace and Glory continue where we were left stranding in Rage in Ruin. I have to say that when that end came in the second book of the trilogy, I was like… I need the next book now because how could Jen do this to us? She can’t leave us hanging like that.
Of course, Jen knows how to keep us hooked and from the first pages of Grace and Glory, I had trouble letting go of my book.
Honestly, I feel like this book gave us a lot of answers to some of the questions we have been wondering and quite a few times, I was surprised when something was revealed because my brain hadn’t anticipated them.
Trinity in this book is still a kickass heroine. I really felt like she was more in charge of her actions even if she had never really been one to just bow down to anyone before. I just felt like she was more in tune with who she was and what she had to do.
Trinity and Zayne together were quite the team and I just love them together. I really feel like they bring the best out of each other.
I will also like to say that I really love Trinity and Cayman’s blossoming friendship in this book. Cayman has always been one of my favourite characters... he just has that something…
Old and new characters make their appearance in this book, and some will leave a long-lasting impression on you that’s for sure. Lucifer being one of them. I liked the way he was portrayed in this book.
Overall, I really loved that series and as much as there is drama and action happening in it, Jen knows just how to add perfectly timed funny moments into the mix.
So what is my final thought of this book? I LOVED IT!! You will go through a rollercoaster of emotions through this book that’s for sure. I just loved the story, the characters, etc. I just feel like it was the perfect way to wrap up Trinity and Zayne’s story.
Though can I just say how I am so sad to say goodbye to this world? I was really happy that Jen has decided to write to spin-off to the Dark Elements series and now that it’s over, I just want another one. I am sure that if one day, the inspiration comes to her, she could find a way back to this world… the possibilities are endless…
So do I recommend this series? Definitely.
There are so many stand out moments.... Roth and Layla return from their task of recruiting Lucifer with interesting results. All the familiars make an appearance and I was so happy that the kittens had their turn in the limelight.... Also, Bambi, I can never get enough of Bambi!
If you haven't read the Dark Elements series, definitely pick that up before you read the Harbinger series!
La transformación y revelación de un personaje me dejo impactada y me gusto bastante.
Lo recomiendo mucho si les gustan las historias de amor, romance, un poco de acción y fantasía es muy bueno.
