Update Sept 2017: I received the new cup from Graco and haven't had a problem since. I still don't know what was wrong with the original but who cares... I've used the gun at least a dozen times since then and absolutely love it. I can have this gun loaded and ready to paint in about 4 minutes and Clean-up = about 10-15 minutes (actually 20-25 for me as I don't like leaving even a spec of paint on my equipment)... Also, a good tip is to run "all" your paint through a strainer... especially if its been setting around a for awhile.. The paint filter is really small and doesn't take long for latex to clog it (a real pain when that happens)... I now run all my paint through those cheap paper cone strainers as I'm pouring it into the paint cup and have drastically reduced filter clogging (almost to 0).. I never strain paint on my big sprayer as its rarely an issue and very easy to clean when it does clog, but no so with this smaller unit.
P.S.I use this stand to hold my cone style strainers over the paint cup.
Makes it really easy... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A1Q0P9E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AU65AbM2CK94K.
Update May 2018 - I've had the gun for a year now and it finally quit working. Wouldn't prime no matter what I did (this time it wasn't the paint cup not sealing). I contacted Graco and was days within the warranty so they sent me out a new pump. While I was waiting for it I took my sprayer apart and found the pump to be very simple to service. The O-Rings looked worn so I went to Lowe's and bought a pack of replacements for $2.. Easily replaced them and the gun is back to new. I found the gun quite easy to service (once I figured it out).. I'm guessing these O-Rings have a short life span, so if you ever find your gun no longer priming no matter what you do, shoot me a message and I'll help you out... One sign that your rings are worn is you immediately start noticing air entering back into the paint cup as soon as you're done purging it out via the vacu valve and when you switch your gun from spray to prime, youll hear a small hiccup sound (that's air being pushed by the pump back into the paint cup)... Hope this helps because I'm still very happy with this unit and still highly recommend it...
Make sure you are using the correct tip. The one that is included is meant for spraying thicker finishes, like latex paint, on wider areas. Make sure you order up some other tips specific to the finish you want to spray.
I did notice a couple of items unique to this gun. Typically, you can crank up the pressure on an airless based upon how fast you are spraying (movement) and retain a nice atomization of the product being applied. I'm unsure if its the new tips, or the gun itself, but adjusting this over level 4 leads to uneven coating/spray pattern and a little over level 3 being optimum for this product being applied.
I am not sold on the Flexliner cups that hold the material. On the older Truecoat series, they utilized a rigid cup for the material and I have never had a problem with material load regardless of the guns horizontal/vertical positioning in siphoning product material within reason (no you could "not" hold the gun upside down and spray). The reload times of material have gone way up using this Flexliner material cup, by time you squeeze out the air etc. It does provide for a little less messy refill though, so there are pros/cons to both.
That being said my overall impression is quite good, and it does a fine job of applying a fine finish with enough power for proper atomization of the product being sprayed. I have had no problem with waiting on battery charges between changes - the discharged battery is charged by time I need to change out again. Overall very happy with this purchase and would recommend this sprayer without hesitation.
