i am happy i went with this playard. it arrived on time in perfect condition.
i did the set up myself at 38 weeks pregnant in under 30 minutes. we put it in the living room at first then moved it to the bedroom. so easy to fold up and move. placed it next to my bed like a co sleeper.
didn't use the changer much (because i'm lazy and i just do it on the bed lol) but when i did it worked fine.
used the main mattress on the side as a storage compartment for nappies and wipes and clothes while she slept in the napper. she didn't always like sleeping in it though - she wants to sleep face down on my chest all the time lol.
but when she was deep asleep we would place her in it and she would sleep till morning.
she's 2 months now and i just took off the napper and emptied the main mattress; now she sleeps there. didn't get an extra mattress; the one that came with it seemed good enough. i did use two bed sheets not one though for extra comfort. they fit perfectly.
when the winter is over we'll move it back downstairs so i can wheel her around in it while i'm in the kitchen.
i still wonder why i bothered getting a crib lol.
Now he sleeps in the bassinet part, which has also worked well. It is very convenient to have this next to my bed, but will be able to use the playard when he gets older in a different room of the house, or take with us when visiting other people.
It is very easy to deconstruct and reconstruct if it needs to be moved. The one thing I will say is that it doesn't fit through normal sized doorways, so it needs to me taken mostly apart to move from room to room. However, I would rather my baby have a nice large playard than to save me a few minutes when I have to move it.
Overall, this is be far the best baby item I have and it is a great value as I will be able to use it from the babies first day and with minor adjustments, until he is much older.
Gave it a 4 since the napper''s fabric needs to be upgraded. It collects lint and dirt easily.
But everything else is great about this.
It is great for that reason but there are a few issues. First, the horizontal structural rails that hold the bassinet and mobile don't totally straighten out, so there's a slight V, which causes the bassinet to lean towards the middle. This means he is always rolling to that side.
The other thing we found about using the changing table portion of it is that it is back-achingly low. My wife is 5'6", and she complains that it hurts her back to bend over and change him on this "changing table".
Finally, making it portable isn't as simple as pulling some latches and the entire thing collapses. It seems you have to basically spend 5-10 minutes disassembling it to get it to collapse.
We'll see how it goes when he gets older and uses it as a playpen.
Love the color and how everything just clicks in! The only issue I have is to remove the napper since it's a bit tricky but it was easier after a few tries.
