Ok, i haven't words to explain how great , fantastic are this headphone, i will try to explain with the real action.
First i bought a Beyerdynamic T1 they sound great, very good and nice headphones, but later after read a few good reviews of this headphone and because i was under the period of return windows for the Beyerdynamic i'am try it and bought also the grado ps500 in order to be sure that my Beyerdynamic would be the hearphones of my life. Ok so, when i receive the gs500 and i try it and compare them with the T1' i can't believe how they improve my audio experience compared with the beyerdynamic, so because that i'am deicide to return the beyerdynamic and took the gs500 like my primiary set of headphone, but ...l. Don'tleave this novel as is, i boought the ps1000 also (Grado) to be sure that the ps500 sound are too great than the ps1000' and again, again and again!,,Grado catch me !!!!!!! The ps1000 are amazing great headphones, better than the ps500, not too much distance between them but the necessary distance to be a really extreme high end headphones, so i got the ps500 for the kitchnen working with a Burson headphones amp and they orking together sound great, and i!am deicide to use the ps1000 together with my oppo95 under tha analog audio sessions in my couch. But here the more interesting of this review. Becuase i was too happy with miy two grados, i deicide to buy the hd800 sennheisser becuase i was to be sure that i will use the best headhones in the world and spend my sound listening time with the best quality audio, what append ? When i receive the hd800 and i compare with the grado ps1000' after use first the grados i unplug the cable and plug it again the Sennheiser hd800 to continue listening and comparing, and becuase of the bad sound he first reaction was to check the cable connection, and what the result? It was ok connected, so what append here? The sennheiser are incorrectly set? No mo no, wha it that? I said to my self? I plug again the grados and everything sound big and great, again, i try the sennheiser and the music quality decrease the quality at least 40% and maybe more. I can't believe how the hd800 can be consider like a high end headphones. They are amaing horribles!! Do not buy it! Go ahead with the grados no matter if hte Ps500 o ps1000' both are wide better the hd800 and t1 of beyerdynamic!!!!!
I got the 2 grados and iam amazing happy listiening my analog audio from my oppo 95.
Grado, you are my King from now!!!!!!

Pair them with a good DAC (I'm running Apogee Duet) and a nice tube amp (I'm running Little Dot Mk III) and be done with it. Expensive? Well I bought the iGrados, the SR80's. 325is's. And thought next step is RS1000. Got these and saved myself $1000 bucks because I knew I'd want to keep going so I skipped the RS's. Especially after the 325is's. Love that Grado sound. Since music is now mostly computer based, my Krell + 6 foot tall Martin Logan Sequels don't get much use. These Grados take me back to being there in the music.

Other phones: Ultrasone Pro 750 (nice), HFI580 (nice), Senn 280 (ok), 380 (ok+), PX200 (great for a small phone). Sony MDR-V6 (good for mixing, not pleasant. Use them on my digital piano mostly). IEM's Etymotic ER6i (No! Shrill!), Klipsch S4(brilliant!). And, bless their hearts, Bose In Ear - these are actually useful for me at work because the sound is warm, they're comfortable, and I can pull them out quick. Not audiophile, take way too much power for portables, but I have to defend these as a good option for earbuds. Audio Technica ATH-ANC1 for noise cancelling, good for public transit, airplanes, priced correctly vs overhyped Bose.

I started to listen with Grado cans since I was in China years ago, from sr80, sr325, rs1, mpro, gs1000 until this ps1000. Among them gs1000 gave the deepest impressions, cause it's been so different from its predecessors by the huge sound filed plus the heavy bass, this mostly aroused my desire to own a pair of PS1000 which is 80% more expensive. PS1000 didn't show a striking or ,say comprehensive boost compared with GS1000. It has a little bit smaller soundstage and heavier bass than GS1000, but the good thing about PS1000 is It's a balanced headphone with high quality in playing back all kinds of music and at the same time preserve the grado-style sound, here I mean "passion". I am not encouraging you to buy it, but it is the best phone that grado has ever made.

So yeah, I spent a billion bucks on these headphones. I also made the mistake of telling my friends. They all think I'm an idiot for spending a billion bucks on a headphone. I'm not letting any of my friends listen through it now. They could have been understanding, and yeah, then I would have let them listen to one of the best headphones in the world. Too bad. They're stuck with their Skullcandy and Beats, by Dr. Dre.

Audiophiles are usually misunderstood, but those who are an enthusiast in anything will understand that people will spend a lot of money on things they're passionate about. A car junkie may laugh at me spending a trillion dollars on these headphones and say that his Skullcandy is better. At the same time, he'll spend $4,000 dollars on a turbo kit for his car so he can shave off .8 seconds on the 1/4 mile. A computer junkie may say that I wasted my money and instead should have bought Beats, by Dr. Dre. Same guy may have spent $1,000 on a cutting edge processor that will become second tier in 4 months.

Anyone who gives you any problems regarding your purchase, you just recommend them some Skullcandy. Tell them that Beats, by Dr. Dre is the perfect pair of cans for him/her. Tell them to pick up some Bose Triports. They can get those at Walmart/Best Buy. Yeah, those Beats, by Dr. Dre, they're incredible. Haha.

Best sound. Love that Grado sound. I started to listen with Grado cans many years ago, from sr80, sr225, sr325, rs1, gs1000 until this ps1000. PS1000 beats everything. Not like electrostatic, ex. Stax 009, but almost there.
