Graffiti World (Updated Edition): Street Art from Five Continents Hardcover – September 1, 2009
Graffiti has long been a ubiquitous aspect of the urban landscape, since anonymous, largely unsung spray-can art first hit city walls in New York and Philadelphia in the late 1960s. As hip-hop culture spread from America, graffiti became a worldwide phenomenon, emerging in the 1980s as the symbolic artistic language of young people everywhere.
Today's graffiti artists incorporate a variety of mediums, including stickers, stencils, oils, acrylics, and oil-based chalk, as well as an ever-expanding range of social commentary. This evolution in style and subject matter has guaranteed graffiti's long-lasting influence on art, graphic design, and style around the world.

tear aside, the book is awesome! its got a heavy hardcover, with a case wrap that actually folds out into a poster :) i didn't know that when i bought it so i was pleasantly surprised.the pages themselves are thick and crisp, and the colors are very vibrant. pictures are a good size and it tells you a little about the artists. the friend i bought this as a gift for actually knows some of these artists so it was nice to be able to give him such a lovely book that had tons of pages to flip though and photos that bring back memories.
its a very thick, nice weight book and makes a great conversation piece on a coffee table. i would highly recommend it for a special artist in your life.
Only complaint would be the packaging. A bit of the cover was bent because of how it was packed and upon arriving the fold has created a pretty large crease in the paper cover surrounding the outside of the book. The book itself is great however, so I won't be deducting any stars from my rating.
