I was looking for a replacement to the We R Memories Chipboard, unfortunately this one is noticeably thinner. It will for the simple decoupage project, this won't hold up to a lot of weight.
It's white on one side and kraft so you can use either side depending on your liking. I also use it wrapped with paper as a mini serving tray for small appetizers. Holds up well for this application too.
At the time of purchase I paid $8.79 or .35 per board. Locally, I can only get it in packs of 6 for about $5.00 so it was definately a bargin for me to order it on amazon.
I used it on my Cricut die cut machine with a new deep cut housing blade. I used the following settings recommended by Provo Craft.
Provo Craft states:m Chipboard (0.059"/1.50mm thick) with the recommended stettings of
Speed 3 (medium)
Pressure 4 (high)
Multi Cut 5
Will definately purchase more to make mini books in the future!
These work very well with Sharpies, Copic markers, Pentel brush pens and just good old cheap Papermate flair pens. I like that they are a good mid-tone beige, so in addition to black ink, I often also add highlights with a white pencil or pen. Sometimes I'll cut out the drawings with an exacto knife (see photo.)
These have a nice smooth surface on both sides (one is a touch smoother than the other) and are pretty sturdy. Obviously, if you want very thick board you should go with the heavy weight, but medium is just right for me.
