"Informative and user-friendly. . . . the dishes are beautifully and simply photographed, and recipes are uncomplicated and attainable . . . . As a mother with a passion for delicious and healthy food I found this book inspiring."―Natural Medicine Journal

"This is a must-read for anyone involved in the health and well-being of children! It’s valuable information we all need to hear."―Hilary Boynton, author of The Heal Your Gut Cookbook

The Grain-Free, Sugar-Free, Dairy-Free Family Cookbook offers a new system to preparing food and approaching the kitchen that gets kids involved in cooking, encouraging excitement around food (a major challenge with restrictive diets). The recipes are rich in healthy fats, nutrient-dense vegetables, ferments, and grass-fed meats, and include snacks, school lunches, and delicious sweet treats that rival the flavors of sugar-dense desserts. By following Leah’s meal plans, parents will be sure to please everyone in the family and make cooking on a restrictive diet enjoyable and doable over a long period of time. Families that know they would like to rid themselves of grain, sugar, and dairy, but are intimidated by starting, will find Webb’s advice and troubleshooting invaluable.

Recipes include:

  • Breakfasts and “breads”
  • Main courses
  • Vegetable sides and salads
  • Soups and stews
  • Snacks
  • Sauces, dips, and dressings
  • Smoothies and other drinks
  • Ferments
  • Sweet Treats

The cookbook outlines family-tested methods that make for effective and efficient preparation, including everyday basic recipes that will become part of a cook’s intuitive process over time. The best part is that although Leah prepares nearly every single one of her family’s breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks using whole food ingredients, she only spends four to six hours on food preparation per week! Through stocking her freezer, prepping the kitchen, shopping and cooking in bulk, and consistently planning meals, this diet plan is not only possible; it is manageable and fulfilling.

Prepare for this cookbook to radically change your life!

::Update:: As of 4/17/2021 it has been a staple for us. We use it regularly. Tonight I made her Chocolate Ice Cream recipe and it was amazing! I truly hope she comes out with another book. Her recipes have been so easy to follow and practical. 100% recommend! ::Update::

I have PCOS and was looking for a grain free, sugar free, dairy free cookbook so that is what I googled and this came up! I am SO glad it did. I wanted a cook book that wouldn't just use sugar substitutes and try to make it taste sweet or give me some gross frankenstein bread type of recipe. She is more against natural sweeteners than I am (she said it took her 3 years to go through half a thing of maple syrup!) but that is exactly what I was looking for. I feel it's important that you know that before buying so you don't think you'll get stevia, coconut sugar, etc. type of recipes.

So far we have made 3 recipes - Kale Frittata, Herb Encrusted Chicken, and Summer Potato Salad. All were excellent! For the summer potato salad I wanted to note that I used store bought mayo and did not make my own. Other than that one recipe I followed the others to a T and they are now family faves! We can't wait to try more!

She tells you how long each thing will last in the fridge/freezer, how long it will take to prep and cook, and other things that are super handy when meal planning.

I am SO thankful for this cookbook and I can already tell it will be a staple for us.

Vegetables and fruits are the stars of this cookbook, and Leah Webb inspires me to prepare them in creative ways. She is wise yet humble. Her willingness to share the health struggles in her own family is a gift to all readers.

The recipes are easy to follow and produce tasty surprises. I don’t have kids, but the explanations and advice for families seem useful and applicable to me. I also like the suggestions about cooking in bulk and streamlining the process in the kitchen.

Leah encourages a better quality of food and shows how to achieve that at home in a way that is affordable, efficient and satisfying.
I have used a recipe from this cookbook to prepare a healthy holiday dessert that was very well-received by friends. I have also prepared delicious entrees, salads and muffins at home that my partner and I have enjoyed.

This cookbook is a nice gift for friends. It can be used in any number of settings to bring some joy into cooking and eating simple, nutritious food. I highly recommend this cookbook.

This is a phenomenal cookbook for anyone looking to make sustainable dietary changes to improve the overall health and wellbeing of their family. The recipes use easily accessible, real food that makes jumping in to this way of eating seem less overwhelming for someone new to this lifestyle. If you are already eating this way there are fresh ideas and fun recipes to keep you inspired. I am fascinated by the science and how Leah lays out the fundamentals of this way of eating. The meal planning and lunch box ideas along with batch and freezing tips makes this a must have for any busy mom. I can't wait to cook my way though this!

We are a family that eats really well and pays attention to what we put into our body. However...we do eat dairy, and wheat (and all grains) and sugar, although in moderation most of the time. I am so happy to have found this cookbook!! Although we are clean eaters, this book has opened my eyes (and my pantry) to ways of cooking and eating that we need, in order to ensure we keep ourselves in moderation. The chapters that share information are concise and well thought-out, the recipes are easy to follow, the dishes I have had so far are delicious, and the extra star on top for this review is the help of cooking in large batches! Appendix D rocks!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not suitable for 1-2 person condo household and not low GI moderate calories
Reviewed in Canada on June 11, 2020
The book is well written and excellently illustrated. I can see how this cookbook can be fantastic for a family of 4-8 persons who live grain, dairy and sugar free. However, implementing the advice of buying in bulk, cooking in bulk, freezing in bulk that requires a car to haul groceries, 8 quart pressure cookers, separate freezer, extensive freezing containers, etc. simply is not feasible if you live in a 500-900 sq feet condo and you are 1-2 person household (that are 60% of Canadian households). There is simply no room for any of those in a condo - you are lucky to have enough prepping space in the kitchen. The recipes are for 8 - 16 - 32 servings too, and trying to scale them down to 2 servings doesn't not produce a good result. My other reservation is that the author extensively uses high fructose fruit such as mango and banana as well as syrop, so the recipes are not truly sugar free or have low GI to manage inflamation. They are also on the higher caloric side (I understand that diabetes or weight management it is not the intent of the book). The recipe work perfect for the author's children but they won't work well for a mature adult who have to deal with slower metabolism. I wish the author creates another version of the book that takes the above factors in consideration, I would buy that one in a heartbeat.
