Great game. Something Gt fans can appreciate.

Great game. Something Gt fans can appreciate.
First of all this is an automobile experience not really a game, you spend time with each car learning its characteristics, its potential, and it becomes a mutual bond. And this is what this experience is about. Yes its a racing simulator with gorgeous photogenic graphics but dont expect it to be an action adventure racing game like nfs or forza horizon. This game was made more for a mature audience who have a passion for pure driving and racing physics that mimic real life. Is it a perfect sim? No. But it is Still the Gran Turismo we know and love with a little more to give. If you grew up with GT 1&2 on the original playstation and was the type that could never put the controller down then this game is for you, the hardcore gt fan. Its like the dark souls of racing games. Its simulates consequences of real world racing minus the damage modeling of lets say beamng, but the point of it is to let the player get to know each of these cars on a personal level. And I have to say as the first ever racing game to bring real car models, physics into the video game world back in 1996 they are the pioneers of this genre and are proving themselves once again they really know cars and the attention to detail they spent researching and trying to make 1:1 physics is phenomenal. Im not saying that this is perfect by any means compared to assetto corsa or iracing. But the amount of things you get to customize, tune, do by trail and error it becomes a satisfying feeling for those who are passionate about motorsports. The modeling is nearly unrivaled. It feels and plays like GT and that formula has not changed much at all. If youre new to GT it does take patience into understanding what this game gives you in terms of entertainment. But once tou get it, it become very addictive. With the jazz music menus and the overlapping mix of rock and bass and drum, at first it seems like a strange mix but if you ever played any previous gt it somehow makes sense and gives you these unexpected moments of happiness just like dipping french fries into vanilla ice cream. So far I have broken free from the dualshock controller and have been using a Thrustmaster T300RS, just let me say the immersion has really let me know what each car is supposed to or would feel like to its real life counterparts. Its amazing, compared to other sims I’ve played its feel pretty close to some of biggest kings of sims. The only downside is drifting. Drifting on a wheel is pretty difficult, its like trying to learn 400hrs of drifting experience all over again.. and im a pretty avid drifter on Assetto, Carx, and forza. The countersteer is way too snappy and over corrects itself even with tuning and changing setting around. Other than the drifting, the racing is where this game really shines and im sure this is what gt really focused in on as they have with all their previous titles. Once they get the tire slip physics just right it I truly think gt will be one of the greatest driving games ever made. Overall I love this game, it brings back nostalgia of challenging licenses, and everything gt used to offer has come back in a great all in one package. I thank the developers for creating such a detailed game and gives us the chance to experience real world cars from the comfort of our homes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disregard most of the idiots in the reviews
Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2022
The photos in my review were all captured on my PS5.

Let me start by addressing some of the complaints I’m reading in the review section here. I was astonished to see this game with such a poor review score so I HAD to investigate.

The guy below complaining about using auto-steer and it not working? Okay? Who the heck uses auto-steer in “The Real Driving Simulator”?! LEARN TO DRIVE.

As for the micro transactions, they’re really not bad, Infact I’ve managed to beat the entire career mode, minus the circuit experience, without even feeling close to needing to buy credits with RMT. If you bought the anniversary edition you have more than enough credits to basically buy whatever you need to progress and the game throws a ton of cars at you for absolutely free for completing the “menu books” at the GT Café which is how to main campaign progression works. You will complete a collection of cars through various racing challenges and they are all super nice rides. On that note I would recommend maybe googling the menu books to make sure you don’t spend credits on a car you want, because there is a high likelihood that the game will just give it to you for free through café progression.

As for the long intro, sure, it’s a thing, you can’t just access the full world map off jump street, you will need to progress the campaign a bit to get all the goodies, which imo is totally fine, I enjoy driving and I like a challenge. Why would you want to just blow all your credits on your car immediately and smoke the competition with ease? That’s no fun at all. You don’t need to speedrun this game! Just sit back and enjoy car culture, that’s what gran turismo has always been about! It’s a love letter to cars, addressed to enthusiasts and casuals, made by motor sports professionals and passionate car lovers.

As for the graphics, WOW! The game looks good on PS4 but astonishing on PS5! Sometimes after using the photo mode capturing action shots it’s hard to distinguish the photo from real life! I’ve actually already sent off some of the raw images I’ve taken to have them blown up into posters for my game room!

The car customization is next! Man they did a good job on this! I have a few minor gripes with it, but overall, it’s really good! I’ve been able to create some cars in this game that I could only DREAM of owning! Absolutely gorgeous I could stare at them all day! AND I DO! Lmao

I’ll finish by saying that GT is not for everyone, even if it wants to be. The driving can be punishing, as this game takes EVERYTHING into account. Weight transfer, tire grip, brake pressure, snap oversteer in MR platform cars, to extremely precise throttle modulation, etc. if you’re not willing to persevere and learn how to drive properly, maybe this isn’t the game for you, but if you want to truly understand cars and how they function and how they perform at the limit, than there is almost no better way to do that outside of actually driving! But then again how often do we get the chance to get behind the wheel of a fully modified Ferrari 458 or Skyline R34 GTR V-Spec NuR? If you want to experience these cars, GT is a great place to do it!
