Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar Games has yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on the Xbox 360.

Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.

This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive (sold separately) with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance.

First things first. Before GTAV was released, GTA:SA was what I considered the best of the series. Everything from the huge world (yes, I do grab a high performance car or a dirtbike and go tearing around the country, jumping over (and onto) trains, off mountain edges, etc) and exploring it to the story (CJ is still one of the best written anti-heroes in the series in my mind) and on to the wide variety of different activities you could partake in. GTA IV, sadly, did not have all of the magic that was wrapped up in SA. It was a great title, but lacked to me.

That is no longer the case with GTA V. I would have to go back and play through GTA:SA again to make sure, but I'm pretty sure GTA V is now my favorite of the series (if not, it's right alongside SA).

There are tons of activities to do if you choose, and even if you don't, the game still has really long legs. Running through major missions in the game takes about 30-45 hours depending on how fast you tear through them. After that, there is the typical GTA array of additional activities to do. Everything from racing (street, offroad) to skydiving and well beyond. I'm anticipating getting about 80-100 hours in before I've completed pretty much everything in the game and have actually already re-started the campaign so I can tackle it all more smartly.

The story of the game is done well and the characters are written very well. I spent a lot of time appreciating some of the personality traits and flaws of the different protagonists and felt like I got to see them develop further as the story moved along.

With all that said, it's a Rockstar GTA game and it still has some of the same flaws that R* GTA titles have long had, though they're getting better. Player movement is still a little wonky. They continue to prefer to make it look good instead of responding immediately to player input (characters turn in fairly large radius circles at slow speeds, helicopters are a bit twitchy, etc). This was frustrating a few times as I had to run down narrow stairs and didn't always hit the stairwell first time, causing me to turn a full 360 to get the line right. There is a bit of texture and asset popping though it's really not that bad.

If you've been a fan in the past but maybe didn't love IV, I still recommend you give GTA V a try. It makes up for a lot of the flaws that crept in to IV.

this was a very good game indeed. the only reason i give it four stars is because for me, the story was way too fast. compared to gta 4, this story was very short. i felt that there should have been more main story missions for us to play. and the world. it is big indeed, but not as big as they said it is. subtract the water and its not very big. what made the game fun was the heists. i feel that the heists were a bit overhyped, as the planning of them consisted of lester telling you two options, and you choosing which one you want to do. the ending of the game is very good for the story, but i still felt that it would have been a lot better if we got to know the three main characters first. but throughout the single player campaign, you got to have fun experiences and find some very cool easter eggs. now on to the online. if you have read the bad reviews about online, you can pretty much forget you read them. they have pretty much patched everything and as an apology, are giving every player who plays within the month of october, will recieve five hundred thousand dollars in in game cash. so if you want that money, buy before the end of october. as of gameplay online, it is extremely fun. character customization is like nothing you have ever seen in a game. you choose your characters granparents, and that affects your parents appearence, then you can choose who you want to resemble more. your mother or your father. then you are sent in game, with a rather boring tutorial. once you get past the tutorial it goes up hill. all in all this game was a good asset to the gta series, but if i could fix one thing, it would be adding more length to the single player campaign.

Absolutely brilliant game. It is in my opinion, what Grand Theft Auto IV should have been, but never was. The characters are fantastic and each have their own personalities. The world that you find yourself in is living & breathing even when you don't interact with it. Graphically, it is about as good as it gets on Xbox 360. There are a few things that I was disappointed with (removal of some game modes that have always been a part of GTA), but there is so much to do, it's hard to really fault them for it. I also feel that the characters could have used a little more depth as could the story...The story & character development really feels rushed...almost as if major parts of the stories were cut to make room on the discs. Again however, despite these faults, I still find this to be one of the absolute best games of the Xbox 360/PS3 generation.

Online gameplay is a major failure however...I really don't think Rockstar was prepared for implementing it at all.

You cannot go wrong at all with this games purchase. I do think this should have been a next gen title however, so they could have filled in the story more and fleshed out the game more as a whole...but again, I still highly recommend this game.

I loved it, great great fun. My spiritual loving gentle wife walked in to the room and so I muted the tv. She thought the vehicles looked so cool, until she suggested a car on the screen I should drive... I wasn't thinking, I jumped out of the car I was in, ran over to the cool brown looking truck, yanked the guy out of the vehicle and proceeded to stab it(video game looking human) several times; immediately upon doing so my wife starts screaming at me in disgust; naturally kept playing the game (turned on the audio) jumped in the truck gunned it forward only to make matters worse I accidentally-ish ran over a bunch of screaming cursing people. My sleep deprived beautiful wife then transformed before my innocent eyes into a beast, a horrible and monstrous beast! Then almost instantly being caught off guard was put into a confused daze, hearing voices of my name, words like husband, father, son; images of dark thundery clouds which sucked me into a black hole... When I woke up, I quickly traded in the game for assassins creed, where all she would see is parkour and sailing a boat.
