The packaging is very good and I found no parts missing or broken. The size of the base is 2 feet in diameter and the height is reasonable at about 4 feet. The entire base is not held together to each layer but held in place when the uprights for the roof are attached. I'd suggest stacking a few layers until the 1st hole on the uprights is reached, then adding layers and working your way up.
Surprisingly all the holes lined up and the roof section support holes are angled for easy attachment of the roof assembly. The only tool you will need is a phillips head screw driver.
Installation I would suggest setting the base on loose stone to allow for drainage of water or set using porch post supports which are meant to hold wood up and away from the surface to prevent water and moisture build up. The wood is a very cheap grade and if not properly treated it will rot away in short order.
In summary, it is a cheap and easy solution to a garden accessory. However if you are looking for something larger and long lasting I'd look elsewhere.
