Original Molasses

Grandma’s Molasses is the highest quality, Unsulphured, sun-ripened sugarcane molasses. It contains no preservatives, artificial flavors or artificial colors and is fat free, gluten free and Kosher. After the sugarcane is cut and crushed, the juices are extracted and boiled. The two grades of Grandma’s Molasses are created by the length of the boiling process. It’s the secret ingredient for baking and cooking that’s passed down from generation to generation. To meet Grandma’s seal of approval, it would have to be great!

Grandma’s Molasses is now made with Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients. The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization, which offers North America’s third party verification and labeling for non-GMO (genetically modified organism) food and products.

This is my favorite molasses to use for cooking (baked beans) and baking. However, both jars arrived with the seals popped and the molasses leaking out of the bottles. Probably iffy to have this fulfilled through Amazon as shipping does not work well for this product. I ended up tossing both bottles out. That said, this is a mild tasting, flavorful molasses and one of my favorites.

I’ve used this molasses for over 25 yrs, so that speaks for its self as far as the quality, taste and performance. The problem was the packaging of the product. It arrived as promised and when I opened the package the bubble wrap it was wrap in was full of molasses where the cap came off. I had seen in one of the reviews that this has happened before with another customer. With that said I strongly suggest that the manufacture should look into sealing the caps with a tamper proof seal. Sad to say I had to discard that bottle.

Good price and I use it as an additive when making organic nutrient teas for my plants. It help provide food for the microbes and adds a little potassium. It taste good, but the microbes and plants love it. I use a little more during mid and especially late flowering.

There is no comparison to Grandma’s Molasses quality and flavor. It’s simply the best!! I’ve been using it for 60 years. During the Quarantine, I ran out of molasses. I tried to find Grandma’s molasses in my local stores but there was only other brands. I bought those molasses brands and tasted them. Ugh! Terrible chemical tastes - nothing like the traditional molasses I’m used to. I’m grateful that I could find Grandma’s at Amazon.

I spent a ridiculous amount to express ship this to my house in time for Christmas, but it was worth it. This type of molasses is the key ingredient for making gingerbread cookies and old-fashioned molasses cake. It's just rich enough, but still sweet. Blackstrap molasses, which is easier to get hold of in Britain, is too strong for cookies, IMO. Maple syrup and golden syrup don't compare, flavour-wise. Until the UK market comes up with its own version, this is the molasses to use in baking.

Shipping was fine - the jar arrived on time, intact and well-protected.

I do not like the harsh taste nor the density of UK molasses, although it is probably healthier than Grandma's, and UK molasses does not work in my US recipes. I keep Grandma's on hand all the time so I can continue to use my US and Canadian recipes.
