Granite Gear Crown VC 60 Multi-day Pack
The successor to the cult classic Granite Gear Vapor Trail, with upgrades! Introducing the Crown 60, with Vapor Current Suspension technology. Weighing less than the Vapor Trail at 2 lbs, 2 oz (1 lb 13 oz with frame removed), the Crown 60 is a top loader with a secure roll-top closure that provides easy access. The simple lidless design can be upgraded with our optional LineLoc lid.
Vapor Current is the name we gave to our latest suspension. At first glance, you’ll notice the ventilation channels molded into the cushy back pad. These channels allow air to circulate from bottom to top, taking advantage of convection to aid in evaporative cooling. This facilitates circulation without shifting the pack’s center of gravity away from your back. Beneath the molded foam, the VC frame has a full length (all the way up to the load lifters), HDPE die-cut sheet that supports loads up to 35 lbs.
The frame itself is removable so the pack can be used for ultralight loads without the frame. The belt and shoulder straps feature dual density padding and updated narrow webbing straps. The shoulder strap has a built in stretch mesh pocket, and the belt has the capacity to accept our optional hip belt pockets. Vapor Current packs are fixed (non adjustable) torso packs that come in sizes: Short, Regular in women’s models and Regular and Long in the men’s version.

Vapor Current Suspension Packs

The Crown V.C. 60 comes with the following default setup:
- Regular Torso – Men’s Medium Belt (30” to 34” Waist)
- Long Torso – Men’s Large Belt (34” to 38” Waist)
- Fixed Shoulder Straps are not interchangeable.
What torso length should I get?
To find your torso length, measure the distance between your seventh cervical vertebra and the shelf of your hipbones. Do this by standing up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Tilt your head forward and place your hands on your hips, thumbs to the back. With a flexible tape, have someone measure from the most prominent vertebra at the base of your neck to an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This will be your torso length.
- Regular Torso – 18" to 21"
- Long Torso – 21" to 25"
What size Shoulder Strap?
Vapor Current (V.C.) packs come with fixed shoulder straps that are not adjustable.
What size hipbelt?
Use the sizing info below to determine your hip-belt size.
Hip Belt Sizing:
- Small – 26" to 30"
- Medium – 30" to 34"
- Large – 34" to 38"
- X-Large – 38" to 42"
- Women's belts are sculpted to fit the increased angle of women's hips

In conclusion, if your looking for an affordable light weight hiking pack with a total gear weight of ~30lbs or less, this is a pack you need to look at. Only downsides is there is only two sizes regular and tall. But the new Crown2 is coming out soon which may have more sizes.
Thank you Granite Gear and Backcountry Edge. Great Service!
This pack replace an REI Traverse New Star backpack, which weighed about 6 pounds and had about 5000 cubic inches of space.
I really like the Granite Gear Crown. I really appreciate how light weight it is...about 2 pounds. I checked the pack carefully...very good quality...not dangling threads or unfinished parts.
The straps and clips are smaller than what I'm used to, but I knew that before I bought it, because I visited the Granite Gear website and watched the video demo of the pack.
The outside side pockets and long back pocket have plenty of room. The top unfolds to provide a lot of extra space, if needed. I really like the vapor current frame. The pack has a lot of tie downs and loops...all in the right places.
Great quality, decent price for a light weight pack, comfortable, great warranty. I'm very happy with my purchase.
