This perennial frameless favorite of ultralight backpackers gets a serious update and a reduction in weight! As in redesigned shoulder straps, a true "roll top" closure to keep out the elements, a mesh pocket in front and a padded hip belt. There are also some weight saving tweaks - 10mm tather than 1 inch webbing that keep the weight below the original version even with the added features! The end result - a more comfortable Vigra that still defines ultralight and weighs 2 ounces less than its predecessor.

Amazon shipped the last one in my size and it was defective: the adjustments for the shoulder strap lengths slipped when there was any load on them until the back was as low as it could go, somewhere below my butt. The problem was that the webbing was routed incorrectly through the ladder-stops (buckles) and it could not be corrected because the ends of the webbing were doubled over and sewed. In the picture, the moving loop should go around the bar in the center of the buckle, not one it's around. One star off for that.
Granite gear offered to repair it if I shipped it to them at my expense. That's poor customer service: shipping a replacement and a return label for the defective one would have been OK. Another star off for that.
I returned it to Amazon at their expense. I was motivated to search for a replacement from another company, but nothing could match the specs. I ordered the same thing again elsewhere.
Cons - the roll-top is a bit awkward, which wouldn't be a problem if it had hip belt pockets or other front pouch, but there's nothing up front and I find I cannot really reach anything in the side mesh pockets without taking the pack off my back. It's well worth adding your own pouch to the front, or just wear a lightweight bumbag.
It was alright. The straps and hip belt are very lightly padded, but it's made for light loads, so that's not surprising. The compression straps are nice, and did a good job pulling everything in tight. In the end, it turns out the lack of suspension isn't for me, but I'd say that if you're in the marked for a frameless and you know it, this one's worth a shot.
