Plot summary: Lawyer who saved Grant's life during the Civil War moves to the Rockies to work for a firm, some of whose lawyers and clients want Grant assassinated. You're never sure which characters are involved in the assassination plot and which are not.
This novel comes alive with incredible details of the characters, their behaviors, and the ways of the late 1800’s, yet the pace is that of a contemporary suspense novel. At the end of each chapter, you want to keep reading. I read this in one weekend. Truly an exciting book to read.
The characters in this book come to life with the developing story and you are transported to an era of real cowboys and a young and lawless
country described by an author that truly knows the west. Thank you Lee Martin.
