About Grant Harper Reid
Grant Harper Reid the GRAND PRIZE 5-STAR AWARD WINNING Author of "RHYTHM FOR SALE"
Grant Harper Reid attended and graduated from Bard College with a Degree in the Arts studying at editing at Beatle John Lennon's apartment. Grant went on to study at the National Academy and Television Arts and Sciences and with Ossie Davis' New Cinema Artists Institute. Grant Reid worked in various capacities in the entertainment industry throughout the decades. Grant has labored primarily on major motion pictures, music videos, television productions and commercials thanklessly securing and supporting locations. In the record industry, he worked in the promotional departments helping various artists become famous.
Three significant events primed Grant to write this entertainment biography. At one year's old the Apollo Theater manager requested that Baby Grant become the New Years baby. Grant was to be carried and danced out on stage by Jackie Wilson. Although his mother nixed the idea believing that Jackie might toss her son out into the audience the request left a profound influence once Baby Grant grew up. At 16 years old in 1969, Reid met, hung out with and photographed Jimi Hendrix in Harlem. In 1978 at age 25 years old Grant directed Michael Jackson in a Motown/Commodores Entertainment documentary.
One fateful day Grant accidentally stumbled upon a Harlem Renaissance book in a local Harlem library. The book mentioned his grandfather the late theatrical producer Leonard Harper. This event changed Reid's life forever as he dropped everything he was doing to learn as much as he could about one of the most prolific producer/directors who ever worked and lived during Harlem's famed Jazz Age. Reid now shares all that he has learned in his Grand Prize 5-Star Award Winning biography "Rhythm For Sale".
