Regardless of whether you're new to comics, a long time fan, vaguely familiar with super hero movies, or just enjoy a good read about art, pop-culture history / mythology, and meta-physical metaphors, than this is the book for you!
Grant Morrison (All-Star Superman, New X-Men, Batman and Son, etc) was already one of my all time favorite comic book scribes (among the likes of Frank Miller, Neil Gaiman, and Alan Moore), but now he's also one of my favorite authors. I've read books on the history of super heroes before, but no one has ever told it quite like this, and with as much insight from a writer who helped forge it. I especially liked how he went into details about the original comic creators themselves, and how their pantheon of characters have changed over the years.
All in all a phenomenal tour de force through the ages! - Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper Ages that is ;)
