Hey, I'm a new reader of TWD and I'm reading the graphic novels, waiting for #5. Is this a collection of graphic novels? If so, how is it to issue 12 already and there is a second book? Is it the same story as the individual graphic novels?

I found this in the store the other day and looked through it. It actually only contains the first two volumes of the comic books, not 12 like the description says. It does have a bunch of extra stuff at the end and is bound in hardcover though.

Peter B. says:
The hardcover book is a collection of the Walking Dead comic books issues #1-12. Not to be confused with the graphic novels, which are themselves collections of comics (Walking Dead Vol. 1-"Days Gone Bye" is a collection of the comic book issues #1-6). Each graphic novel contains 6 issues of the comic, so the hardcover book is essentially the first two volumes of the graphic novels. So if you own the book and want to continue the story, start with volume 3 of the graphic novel. If you already own volumes 1 & 2 of the graphic novels, you don't need to buy the hardcover book. If you've already read volumes 1-4 of the graphic novel, either go to your local comic shop and buy the monthly issues of the comic, or sit on your butt and wait like the rest of us for volume 5 to finally come out. (any month now, right, Amazon??)
