Editorial Reviews
Review
Ms. Sedrak delivers an emotionally beautiful tale of two people yearning for happiness, family, and love with wonderful insight, humor, and grace. Tonya Mathenia/InD'tale Magazine
In a truly heartfelt and highly relatable story of human emotions and a sense of belonging, author Mona Sedrak really knows how to tap into deep insecurities and feelings of the heart. I'd highly recommend Gravity as a must-read for fans of women's fiction, emotive high drama and realistic fiction novels. K.C. Finn for Readers' Favorite
I enjoyed this book and Leila and Aiden's story of gravity and the amount of force it can have on a relationship. Most couples have a more traditional origin story and are able to build a base together before they deal with adversity together. Leila and Aiden have an instant attraction that neither can deny, but they start out dealing with adversity and have to fight to get to a stable place to be able to stay together and not take anything for granted. Vicki Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More
Gravity by Mona Sedrak a testament to the power of love, both romantic and family. It takes great strength and courage to step out of your comfort zone and love one another. Leila is one of the most courageous heroines I've had the pleasure to read. Mona Sedrak takes on a very personal story and opens the reader's eyes to the struggle many single mums face. Emotional narration, especially from the point of view of Leila, is raw, naked and sometimes painful to read but irresistible, nonetheless. The romance between Leila and Aiden is gradual and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. There's a lot of intense situations going on in Gravity but Mona Sedrak writes them with such poignancy, I loved it. One of the best books I've read this year. Highly recommend! N.N. Light

From the Inside Flap
Relationships were difficult enough when the individuals involved shared a common language and culture. Leila knew of only a handful of couples who succeeded in mixing cultures. Even if she made peace with her family, she knew they would never acceptAiden. In their eyes, he would be an American--an outsider--who couldn't understand their ways. She took a deep breath and filled her lungs with his heady masculine scent mixed with the ocean breeze. His intoxicating scent swirled around her brain and quieted her fears--silencing the voices of doom and crumbling the final vestiges of her defenses. Leilasagged against him. She opened her eyes and met Aiden's steady gaze. "Gravity," she murmured. "Hmm?" Aiden raised an eyebrow and smiled. "No matter the barriers my brain conjures, it's useless." She shrugged. "Baby, I'm not following you. What's useless?" Frowning, he tilted his head. "I can't stay away." Leila looked away. "We are as different as two people can be. You are the sun and I the moon." She met his gaze. "Gravity has me in its grasp, and I can't defy it." Aiden kissed her forehead and settled back against the lounger. She sat between his legs with her back resting against his chest. "Me neither. From the second I met you, I was drawn in ways I couldn't explain." He circled her with his arms. "Don't fight the gravitational force."

From the first page, I found myself captivated by Leila and Aiden's story and rooting for them to work through the painful parts of their pasts on their way to each other. Time and life experience often give you a different perspective on your memories and the author skillfully reveals how actions and reactions of her characters have lasting impacts. And while Leila and Aiden explore the excitement of new love, they must also come to terms with cultural expectations and family dynamics that threaten the life they so desperately want to create. The story line moves at a satisfying pace and the main characters are well-developed. You'll find yourself captivated by this book and won't want to put it down.

Gravity is about several men and women who endured difficult childhoods and whose trauma lingered into adulthood, but who were determined to do better, especially for their children. The struggle was often hard and confusing, but each character refused to give in to defeat. Sedrak created strong characters and a realistic story line for today's world. It is not always a "happy" read, but it is always an encouraging one. Worth the read, especially for someone who can relate to finding courage, and love in a less than perfect situation.

I really enjoyed this book. The story of Leila facing challenges of being raised by a strict Egyptian father in the United States and the challenges of becoming pregnant before marriage was so interesting and fun to read about, I couldn’t put the book down.

The author of this book certainly has a way with words. She is able to paint such an evocative picture, showing with a deft touch what the characters are thinking and feeling and how it affects them on a deeply emotional level. She does it so well that it almost felt like too much at times! Like we are seeing deeply into the soul of the characters. But, she had the sense to interweave these kinds of deeply reflective moments with scenes that were more character interaction or action. The vibe that I got from this book by the description was that it was going to be a contemporary romance that looked at family issues. But it really wasn't like that. I actually felt that the romance was really put on the backburner compared to the individual stories of the hero and heroine. The heroine has long-standing issues with her family after they shunned her when she became pregnant with an illegitimate child. The hero has complex issues as the divorced father of a boy with Down's syndrome. It actually takes until after the quarter point of the book for both of them to realize the other is a single. He has a live-in helper whom the heroine thinks is his wife. I feel like the author actually had three stories in this one book, but she gave too much time to the hero and heroine’s individual stories, not focusing on the relationship between them. So, even though she wrote well, I ultimately found myself disappointed in this book.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Yowza!
Mona Sedrak’s new novel, GRAVITY, is filled with so much emotion and drama, you’d better set some serious time aside to read it, because you won’t want to put it down once you start.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author and I have to admit, after reading Ms. Sedrak’s first novel, SIX MONTHS, I was expecting a heart-wrenching, rollercoaster of a read-- and I wasn’t disappointed!
Dealing with old world family values and modern day situations such an unwed pregnancy in a very conservative family structure, and a genetic disorder causing a child to be abandoned by its mother, in addition to single parenthood and all the issues that comes with, Ms Sedrak delves in and delves in deep to the problems facing her characters. Single mom Leila, and single dad Aiden each are dealing with differing issues with their children when they meet. Without going into too much detail, their meeting and instant attraction poses a problem for Leila and she must navigate through her desires to Aiden which she doesn’t want.
I hate spoilers, so I won’t go any further, except to repeat what I said at the beginning – you need to put time aside to read this through, or you’ll find yourself neglecting your job, family, and daily chores to finish it!
5 well deserved stars for another fabulous book by Mona Sedrak. I was given an ARC from the author for an unbiased opinion of the work

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I'm delighted I did.
The author’s deft and sensitive handling of deeply emotional topics is what sets this novel apart. Leila Solomon is an American girl raised in a very traditional, patriarchal Middle Eastern household. After becoming pregnant out of wedlock, she is forced to flee from her family and home. While raising her daughter alone, she searches for a new self-definition that can accommodate both identities—Eastern and Western, traditional and modern—knowing all the while she can never be free to live her life until she faces her family and shows them the strong woman she has become.
Aiden Stone struggles with ghosts of his own. A professional photographer raising a special-needs son, he and a close friend have put together an unorthodox family of three that manages to work for everyone. When he meets Leila and her daughter, mutual feelings blossom, and they quickly join the circle, until the sudden reappearance of his son’s mother threatens to destroy the delicate balance he has created.
GRAVITY challenges the reader’s definition of family and speaks to the immigrant’s dilemma of assimilating into a new culture without abandoning the heritage that formed the foundation of the old. In lesser hands, the story might have sunk into melodrama. Instead, it is an uplifting salute to the power of love.
