I purchased this game to have another party game (along with Dance Central 2) and because I'm far more familiar with the music of Grease I decided to open up the game and give it a try by myself and was really please with the game. The game is basically broken down into 4 sections.

A) Dance
B) Karaoke
C) Party (2 dancers and up to 6 back up singers)
D) Mini Games

I really only focused on the Dancing and the various songs have been separated by easy, medium and hard, and you were graded on how well you performed the moves. You are required to start with an easy song first and as you perform the songs and based on how well you do you unlock new songs to perform. I completed all the easy and some of the medium difficulty rated songs my first time through.

I will state since I'm not a dancer and have a much more difficult time with Dance Central that the Grease Dance grading system is probably an easier grader, but I had a lot of fun, and that wasn't something I would expect to do with a dancing game.

So in short, this is a dancing game that I would recommend to a friend, and expect them to like it as well.

Grease Dance is a dancing game / karaoke game that incorporates the classic Grease moves and characters. As an avid Grease fan who was in the musical in high school, this concept appealed to me. Here's how the game plays out.

First, despite the cover of the game featuring live humans, the game has cheesy cartoon characters, and the songs are cover songs. The graphics need a bit of work, too. One time during a song Sandy's dress "vanished" and she was dancing in her underwear for a moment. A bit iffy for a game to do.

On the dancing side, there's no training mode and little feedback. So you're stuck trying the game time after time to figure it out. You are forced to play all the easy games before the harder ones unlock. Some are fun, though - they have you do an actual hand jive during that song.

I had numerous problems with the menu selection and with the controller not registering, even though I play a ton of dance games in general. So this game in particular seems to have some coding issues.

The karaoke side has the song but no "singer" - which feels odd. The notes aren't shown well. If a note is held, often the on-screen version just ends. Also, the notes don't go up and down in a reliable way. You could go from a low part to a high part and on the screen it's still "center of the screen". It's also worth noting for parents that some of the lyrics in here are fairly racy, so be aware of the age you're buying the game for.

The mini games are cute but not ones that realy call to be replayed. They claim to have "videos" but really they're super-short clips from the movie without any context, often jammed together in some sort of a strange mash-up.

The icon selection is awful.

I seriously considered returning this game because it is the stupidest dance game I have ever tried with Kinect and I have numerous. BUT I chose to keep it because I have never laughed so hard playing a game. This is totally great for parties, families, friendly get togethers, geeky fun times and anyone who has the courage to act like a fool and laugh and laugh and laugh...

This has to be one of the cheesiest games I've played with the Kinect but in a good way. Most of my friends don't own a Kinect and haven't had time to learn all the Dance Central moves and feel embarrassed trying to keep up with the game and make themselves still look good. The dancing in Grease is much easier and everyone knows the songs. The game doesn't offer a training mode but most of the dance moves are simple enough you can follow along with the character enough to have a great time.

The dance mode has a few very nice features. It does each move at least twice, so I miss it on the first one and then do the next one right on. The choreography isn't identical for the two people and sometimes you even get to interact with your partner. One song had me doing a swing move with my partner, and others have you walk around each other.

If you want a competitive game that grades well and lets you beat the other person this is not the game for you. This game is all about having fun as a group and not focusing too much on who won or lost.

Everyone is correct in their positives and negatives of this game.
The game is cheesy
The game doesn't have a "how to" choreography section (which they should think about doing in any release)
The game doesn't allow you to pick the songs you want
The game has all the GREAT music songs
The scenarios are a little cheesy, but very close to the show.

Here it is - the game is FUN! It is just fun!
If you're looking for a game like Dance Central, don't buy this game
If you're looking for a fun party game to dance to fun music that reminds you of yesterday, buy this game.
For $30 and under, it's wonderful!

And that's my two cents...

The music and dances are great but the technology is "spotty". The game consistently favors the player standing on the left side (regardless of where the kinect sensor is pointed or which player is on that side). There are too many "clicks" to get to the dancing and the hand-to-screen recognition is jumpy compared to other games. We will still enjoy the game, given the number of limited family-friendly dance games available for the Kinect...but it was a disappointment compared to the Just Dance series.
