I suppose I could pull the follower rod all the way back out every time I use it to keep the pressure off which would presumably stop the leaking but I've never had to do that with any other grease gun. Seems like a recipe for prematurely wearing out the plunger and/or introducing pockets of air in the grease.
The coupler is also a little to loosy-doosy where you adjust it. What I mean by that is that it moves around on its own making being able to find that sweet spot just tight enough to snap on a fitting so you can shoot grease in without having to hold it the whole time but still let you tug it off without fear of breaking a fitting. With this coupler I find I have to make sure it's loosened up before I slip it on a fitting, tighten it, shoot grease, and finally loosen it up again to get it off. That's kind of hard to do sometimes depending on where the fitting is. U-joints with this gun is a bit of a pain. I've had it lock on a fitting more than a few times now where it was pretty difficult to get in there to loosen the coupler off enough to get it to come off without snapping a zerk.
Hose arrived pinched, grrrr
Ignore the great reviews on Amazon and buy a different one...
I had a tough time with the nozzle getting stuck on the zerks. Pro tip: You can twist the nozzle to adjust its clamping/holding pressure, and the nozzle I had was screwed too tightly. I wish I knew that beforehand.
I did not use the rigid nozzle, but used the long flexible hose instead. It easily reached all the zerks and was a convenient length.
Anyway, highly recommended.
