Benjamin Creme s The Great Approach ... is the last of his four main books devoted to a full account of Maitreya s mission, and is another treasure trove. It is in three parts, entitled Life Ahead for Humanity , The Great Approach and The Coming of a New Light . It includes edited talks by Benjamin Creme, and a comprehensive selection of questions and answers stemming from these lectures.
... Reading the first part of The Great Approach ... provides a fresh insight into the kind of task that Hierarchy has to accomplish before They can openly speak to us. This section not only includes a detailed account of what will happen on the Day of Declaration, but also the background work of preparation for this event: encounters with Maitreya and the Masters, including His appearance to religious groups and the right attitude of disciples and the public in general to favour Maitreya s emergence. At the same time this event is the way humanity overcomes the injustices generated by our current economic system and commercialization. Benjamin Creme analyses the effects of market forces on our everyday running of world affairs, and highlights the manner in which these energies of destruction will be defeated, from both an esoteric and exoteric point of view: When market forces are seen as the destructive agencies that they are because they benefit the few at the expense of the many and when commercialization is recognized as the destructive mode by which that destructiveness works out, then the energy of it will be resolved. It will be reconstructed ...
Part Two of the book concentrates on a long commentary by Benjamin Creme about the full return and externalization of the Hierarchy...
This section gives further information on the historical Jesus and His relationship with Maitreya over the centuries, as well as further details about the Master Who was Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The actual externalization is not simply the Masters coming out openly, waving to the populous and being very chummy and friendly. It is to do with the externalization of the inner ashrams onto the outer physical plane . The task of preparing the way for the Emergence of the Christ and the Masters into the world is (almost) completed.
.... The ongoing task of illuminating the audiences, present and future, will be an important aspect of the coming of a New Light, the subject of the third part of The Great Approach. Benjamin Creme offers an extensive and precise commentary on the article Let there be Light by his Master. This covers both the scientific nature of light and its esoteric significance. Soul-infusion is actually the amount of Light of God that the soul brings in from the Spiritual Triad, that is, the Self, the Spiritual Being which is reflected through the soul, and from the soul to the personality ... There is an Inner and an Outer Light: There is the light of the atomic particles of the brain itself. Then there is the light of the etheric body, the etheric counterpart of the brain. There is the light of the soul, which is usually seen as a brilliant sun in the head , and the interactions of these different kinds of light, if properly managed, transform the density of matter... The Emergence of Maitreya and the Masters will precipitate a greater recognition of the light of the soul (seen as a desire to serve) which will help dissipate astral miasmas. The Master said: The world stands ready for more light. The peoples everywhere are thirsty for new knowledge of themselves and of God . This knowledge is not merely intellectual but practical, and its unfoldment will bring with it greater health and a sense of happiness.

From the Publisher
In his first book, 'The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom', British artist Benjamin Creme stunned the world with his announcement that the Christ, as World Teacher for the coming age, is already among us--gradually emerging into full public recognition. And, further, that this great Spiritual Presence, known as Maitreya, is the same One expected by many religions, albeit it under different names. Along with a group of highly-evolved spiritual men who have long inspired humanity from behind the scenes, Maitreya is here to promote cooperation among the many ideological factions, galvanize world goodwill and sharing, and inspire sweeping political, social, economic and environmental reforms.
A portrait of humanity's destiny
A long-time student of the Ageless Wisdom teachings, first made available to the public in the late 1800s by H.P. Blavatsky and later by Alice A. Bailey, Creme has traveled the world for more than 20 years further elucidating upon these teachings and alerting people to the imminency of this event, dubbed by one journalist as "the biggest story in history". In the nine inspiring and provocative books which have emerged from this process, Creme paints an ever more detailed picture of humanity's destiny, both worldly and spiritually. "We are talking about nothing less than the total transformation of every aspect of our lives," he says.
From the stock market to weeping Madonnas
Creme's message is both profound and immensely practical. Each book covers a vast range of topics: from meditation and the growth of consciousness to political and economic change, from initiation and group work to ecology and world service. Compelling explanations are offered for the ever-increasing 'miraculous' or unexplained phenomena such as weeping Madonnas, crosses of light, healing waters, crop circles and UFOs. Creme also clarifies misunderstandings about the 'antichrist' and the 'last judgment'.
Benjamin Creme is chief editor of 'Share International', a monthly magazine read in over 70 countries, that addresses the changes that are both needed and actually occuring in every field of endeavor to bring about a more just and compassionate global society. He accepts no remuneration or royalties for his work.

Affirming once more his title of "messanger of hope," Creme presents with clarity, candor, common sense and conviction the "New Light and Life" for humanity in the years ahead. One may ask, yet: Is there any future at all for humanity...?
Contrary to fear and disbelief, and against the recent tide of pessimism about human affairs, the answer is an emphatic yes. And it is so, because no isolated action can reverse the "Great Approach," the subject of Creme's book.
A momentous, unprecedented event is unfolding below the threshold of media coverage: the coming together of the spiritual and the human kingdoms. As a result of this process, new and potent energies overflow the planet and condition human life in all its aspects. So powerful indeed these energies are that, if directed to evil schemes, they can produce devastating misery. We cannot get rid of them; only turn them into constructive purposes. To help us in this task, a group of spiritual educators are coming to the fore. Their vast knowledge of the law of causality and their radiant, unconditional love make them uniquely equipped to help humanity out of the present confusion.
That is Creme's story, and as a story we may accept it or not. But Creme is more than a story teller. Profoundly concerned with the explosive social problems and the moral failings of our age, he issues a call for action: Let us put our house in order. Let us manifest the best within us by addressing the problems of the world. Eliminating hunger, distributing more equitably the planet's resources, educating all children and tending to the ill and the needy, is how we can establish peace, diffuse tensions, and disarm the hands of terror. Creme gets even more specific when he recommends the Brandt Commission Report as a starting point for reconstructing our ailing world.
.... Starvation produces no less a violent death than any terrorist attack. Institutional poverty condemns children as much as the deprivation of a loved parent... And environmental pollution is, should we but realize it, an ongoing biological war against our planet.
World service, according to Creme, is the most effective way to manipulate the new energies of "The Great Approach" and restore our humanity to its true nature. Service to the world is also, I would add, the proper reaction to evil and the definite answer to terrorism. If you are searching for a book to start the new century on a realistic yet inspiring note, you might want to consider "The Great Approach" first.
