There's a point in this book that I literally could not breath because I was laughing SO much. It was 3am (because I couldn't put it down) and I'm sure the neighbours thought I was having a fit! But I digress... If you want a book that is TRULY 'laugh out loud', start here. (But make sure to read the rest of Jo's writing as well!)
It helps that she is South African and writes about my home so normally that I get homesick reading all her books. Not like another author who shall remain nameless but wrote about a zebra standing on the side of the road in Jo’burg for goodness sakes.
I am so sorry that I have finished all of them in this series but I will be going back and re reading them all again, something that I never do, but they are just soooo good.
I found the diary entries a little annoying at first but on reflection I think this was because I empathised with the character! It took me a couple of chapters to really get into this book as a result.
But once I did I was reminded why I was so thrilled to find a new author to read! Funny moments litter the text and by the end I was so invested in the outcome....I read it until 3am as I couldn’t put it down!
Can’t wait for her next book!
Rounding off with updates on some of the other friends in the group was a lovely touch at the end.
I might have to start from the beginning again now with "Burning Moon" whilst waiting for new material from Jo. I will be sure to keep an eye out for updates from this author as I've personally found her writing captivating whilst also fun to read.
