From the Publisher
Highly praised by childbirth educators, GREAT EXPECTATIONS: YOUR ALL-IN-ONE RESOURCE FOR PREGNANCY & CHILDBIRTH has been expressly created for the intelligent, inquisitive woman who is seeking sound, research-based guidance, and practical advice about childbearing. It's designed to help readers keep on top of the complexities of medical, physical, emotional, and psychological experiences of this important life transition. The book allows them to rapidly navigate thousands of topics using its 150 "quick-reference" tables, bulleted sections, page-by-page headers, and detailed index. It collects all of the most critical new findings from hundreds recent obstetrical studies into one easy-to-read volume, presenting them as "flash facts" to help readers make informed choices using lists of proven benefits and risks for common tests and procedures. This notable, woman-centered volume also offers detailed information on genetic and glucose tolerance tests, labor augmentation and induction, elective cesarean sections, epidurals and other common tests and procedures. The book's low, affordable price makes it an excellent resource in the pregnancy field for parents-to-be, libraries, and for nursing students, childbirth educators, and organizations concerned with improving family life.

I'll start with cons so to end on a positive note.
*It does have it's share of things that can unnecessarily worry or upset (but not as much as What to Expect). I really prefer how Regan in I'm Pregnant has a separate chapter for problems and complications-- that has been great for me as a first time mom-to-be.
*The authors can be too opinionated about some baby products-- telling you to absolutely not buy something because they don't like it or they think it's inconvenient.
*The week by week breakdown (it has a drawing about every other week with a great reference to the current size of the baby)
*The baby gear section is exceptional, the best I've seen in a pregnancy book
*Extras that aren't in other books-- like ideas for baby shower gifts, baby shower game ideas, a pregnancy dictionary in addition to the index, bullet-pointed lists (nine tips for___ or alternate headache cures, or little boxes with tips, quotes from readers, etc.). This is great for skimming through and not feeling boggled down by reading endless paragraphs.
