But, the revised edition has a couple of changes that really disappointed me.
Firstly, there is not a handy see-through business card sleeve in the very front of the book. That card-carrier was so invaluable with the first journal! Even though the calendar was not up to date, that little business card holder allowed me to insert a small calendar that could fit that window. I also had a convenient place to keep all the appointment cards that people gave me. As a result, the original journal was something I brought with me to every prenatal visit. I could open the front cover, and BAM! There's the time/date/location/phone for every upcoming appointment, staring me in the face. No way I could forget them.
The revised edition lacks that oh-so-important business card holder, without which I find myself thinking I'll have to peruse Wal-Mart to find a sleeve in the craft section, and superglue it to the inner cover....
Secondly, I really detest the color chosen for this journal. It is light green text on white which is very difficult to read in low light, and when scanning quickly for information. The original yellow-back version was dark-blue text on white, and was very easy on the eyes.
Thirdly, it lacks the plastic sleeve in the back for all those scraps of paper that one gets from doctors -- receipts, lab results, etc. Ahh! I guess I'll have to superglue another sleeve to the back cover as well.
I can't foresee if I'll have a third child, but if I do, I won't order another version of this pregnancy journal sight-unseen online unless those items are changed back to the original version!
Edit 4/15/2012: I ended up cannibalizing the business card holder from my older yellow-cover edition, and inserting it into this new green-cover edition, which was easy enough to do because the opening of the spiral binding is in the front. I was not able, however, to do that with the back pocket without completely taking apart the book. So I cannibalized a plastic sleeve from a freebie Similac journal given to me by my obstetrician, trimmed it to fit, and rubber cemented it to the back cover. Voila! Handy pockets! I can't do anything about the lime green text. Oh well. Three stars for making me break out my rubber cement and getting crafty with it, when I could have been doing something like knitting a baby blanket. Yeah, right.

I had no interest in a diary-type journal (where I talk about my thoughts and how I feel).Read more
