Excellent taste to the Great Lakes Honey. I use this in place of sugar in lots of my recipes--salad dressings, breads making, sauces, honey butter, and many more. It is good plain on toast or mixed with peanut butter. We have used it on pancakes mixed with a little maple syrup. Possibilites are endless. I would buy this product again from Amazon not only because it was excellent but the price was too.

FDA standards require the natural pollen to be left in the honey for it to be properly labeled honey; they just refuse to enforce the rules. One major reason for the requirement is pollen lets you determine the country of origin, which can be a factor with countries like China where adulteration with cheaper sugar sources is rampant, or India where unsafe pesticides and other chemical contamination has occurred. Great Lakes is one of the brands for Honey Tree, who definitely filter their honey. At least Honey Tree made a response to this issue in an article highlighting it and was NOT one of the companies facing criminal charges over relabeled unsafe foreign honey. You can make up your own mind how big an issue it is for you. [...]

"One who did was Bob Olney, of Honey Tree Inc., in Michigan, who sells its Winnie the Pooh honey in Walmart stores. Bryant's analysis of the contents of the container made in Winnie's image found that the pollen had been removed.

Olney says that his honey came from suppliers in Montana, North Dakota and Alberta. "It was filtered in processing because North American shoppers want their honey crystal clear," he said."

As other customers commented, I also had one bottle to leak during transit. The honey only got onto the one bottle and was a minor leak. In case the company is reading......when you tighten the lid, if the seal comes loose, honey will not leak out. Yah, if the lid had been the least bit tight, the honey wouldn't have leaked. This tiny discrepancy will not take a star away from my review.
Onto reviewing the actual honey! It's great! What's even better, subscribe & save! WooHoo! I got the pack of 3 2 pound bottles for $14.24 and free shipping. It's made here in the USA, has great color and the taste is wonderful! Honey's one of those luxuries that I have avoided for a while, because the price is just so high. With subscribe & save making the price so affordable, amazon charging no sales tax in my state, and FREE SHIPPING, I couldn't pass up this deal. With 6 pounds of it now, I'm set for quite a while!
Before I wrap up this review, I wanted to recommend to you fellow honey lovers to try dipping chicken strips in honey and eating them. It reminds me of when I was a kid........back when schools made actual food and not tv dinners. Once every 2 weeks, we'd have home made chicken strips and they'd give us real honey to dip them in. Pure heaven!!! Give it a try!

I drink honey in my hot tea. Tea just isn't tea without honey. I drink so much of it, I use about a POUND of honey a week!!! I am always "on the prowl" for a good deal when it comes to honey. When my local store changed their honey from clover to wildflower (which I can't stand), I was immediately "in the market" for a new supplier. I don't know why I decided to check Amazon.com, but I did...and I found this really fantastic deal! I have received my first shipment of this honey, and I am very, very impressed. I also love the fact that I now have a regular shipment schedule for it...never have to worry about honey again! (Unless, of course, they change this clover honey to wildflower honey...but then they would have to change the name, wouldn't they???) Needless to say, I am very, very happy with my purchase and I am looking forward to having a lengthy relationship with Great Lakes. Thank you, Amazon!!!

This honey is a nice, light flavored clover honey that actually tastes like *real* honey (ie. nothing quite like those honey bears you buy from the grocery store). We often buy local or directly from the beekeeper, but the price was definitely worth the purchase of this 3 pack. I may buy again for mead and wine making, mainly because the price is so much better, but the taste is also light enough that it would work well with other ingredients . It does definitely have a clover honey taste to it, however, so if you dont like that flavor, you will not be happy with this. I don't find it as spicy as minimally processed local or the fantastic fireweed honey we get from others, but it's a great all-around honey that wont impart too much of it's own flavor into what you put it into. It was fantastic in tea!
All the bottles arrived in great condition. No problems with shipping.
For the price, it's a great buy. Take advantage of the subscription discount.

(note to homebrewers: This *might* not make the best straight mead on it's own.. if you're going honey+water+yeast, consider shelling out for a richer honey for a better result. This would probably go great in wines, or as a spiced or flavored mead).
