Liberal media bias is an established fact, and Jeff Gannon witnessed it first hand while serving "behind enemy lines" in the White House press corps. Gannon's story of how he was driven out of the White House illustrates the challenges conservative journalists face in a profession that is institutionally and genetically liberal. Part of this book is an account of what members of the Old Media, Democrats and liberal activists will do to keep conservatives out of mainstream journalism. It serves as a warning to all journalists as to what can happen when politicians and activists object to their reporting. What they said about Jeff Gannon:U. S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi-"must be stopped"Vice President Al Gore-"pseudo-reporter"Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin-"non-journalist using a false name"House Judiciary Chairman Rep. 1.0 out of 5 stars Still looking for facts September 27, 2007
Format:Paperback
I picked up this book expecting to find factual analysis of the political situation. Instead, all I found was name-calling, the blame game, and hate mongering. He seems to feed off the same publicity seeking strategy as Andrew Sullivan - opportunistic contrarianism. His arguments don't seem to make any sense and really beg the question whether someone's personal life, whether Matthew Drudge or Larry Craigs, informs their character and values.

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this a joke from the Onion? October 24, 2007
Format:Paperback
The reviews of this book reveal a shocking lack of honesty, or of knowledge, on the part of the reviewers. Jeff Gannon, aka Guckert, was bounced from the White House Press Corps because his pornographic self advertisements as a male prostitute were discovered on line and his scant qualifications as an actual journalist were simultaneously exposed. He lost his "job" not because of any left wing outcry or revenge but because he was the *only* "reporter" for a news agency that was a White House front organization and he became too hot to handle after his sideline as a male prostitute and ex marine poseur was revealed. I admit that after the last few years of gay republican outings (from the head of the Wisconsin GOP to Larry Craig, from Mark Foley to any of a few dozen other sex offenders and perverts) nothing surprises me much about the far right and its public representatives. But please? The reviews which bemoan the left wing's attacks on "good christian men" like Gannon/Guckert are just pathetic. If a self published gay male prostitute is a paragon of christian virtue in this country I missed the memo. Or does political expedience excuse any vice?

A careful reader of the political scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Penetrating Analysis October 25, 2007
By Ed
Format:Paperback
I'm glad to see that Mr. Gannon has stiffened his resolve and not allowed the flagellations of the liberal MSM to blunt his hugely satisfying and deeply probing critique of their biased and ham-handed reporting. With a rock-hard intensity, Gannon grabs hold of the hypocrisy and deviousness of the "chattering classes" with both hands and drives home his thesis, refusing to quit until he has unleashed a torrent of white-hot truth on the flanks of those who would betray America. He refuses to "suck up" to the mendacious media mavens who can only weakly wave their limp-noodle excuses in his direction as he pricks their veneer of self-importence. His main thrust, that he returns to again and again and again, almost relentlessly, is that the MSM has laid itself wide open to repeated attacks by a massive rear guard action from a vocal and persistent minority of "New Journalists," who have exposed "Old Media" as the cuckolded, flaccid mouthpiece of Islamofascists and their degenerate allies on the left it is today. Bravo, Mr. Gannon, and keep it up!

1.0 out of 5 stars Is this James Guckert writing as Jeff Gannon? August 25, 2007
By Rhstoo
Format:Hardcover
For several years there was a reporter whose real name was James Dale Guckert and who wrote for the conservative Talon News Service under the pseudonym of Jeff Gannon. Guckert/Gannon is alleged to have spent many nights in the White House while both serving in the White House Press Corps and advertising personal "escort" services. Not that he doesn't have the right to write a book and express his opinions (whether the allegations aginst him are true or false) but Amazon's write-up gives potential readers no information upon which to base a buying decision. Its "book description" goes as follows:

"Liberal media bias is an established fact, and Jeff Gannon witnessed it first hand while serving "behind enemy lines" in the White House press corps. Gannon's story of how he was driven out of the White House illustrates the challenges conservative journalists face in a profession that is institutionally and genetically liberal. Part of this book is an account of what members of the Old Media, Democrats and liberal activists will do to keep conservatives out of mainstream journalism. It serves as a warning to all journalists as to what can happen when politicians and activists object to their reporting."

Without the context of how and why he was "driven out" of the press corps, a casual reader might tend to believe that "liberal media is an established fact." I would urge readers to do some homework using whatever sources they trust before they decide to accept the author's assertions as anything close to the truth.

1.0 out of 5 stars The truth isn't out there. August 25, 2007
By K S
Format:Paperback
Thise self-published, self-glorifying book could not possibly be the truth, or even resemble same.

The truth is, Jeff Gannon aka James Dale Guckert, was a military-fetishist male homosexual (but 'top only!') prostitute servicing God-knows-who in DC. His all-the-sudden-call-himself-a-journalist career change for an online-only upstart news service may have been a cover for his real introduction to the Bush White House.

It begs the question of how did a person of his background, which was freely available to all to see on the Internet, including naked pictures of his genitals, get within 20 feet or so of the President? Why was security so lax as to allow a prostitute masquerading as a journalist into the White House?

It doesn't take a conservative, or a liberal, or any political bias to see that there are questions here - questions 'Jeff Gannon' will never, ever answer in this book or any other. When gently questioned by Anderson Cooper, Gannon/Guckert called this his 'private life' - but did not say it was his 'former' life. Further, how is anything private if you're advertising it on the Internet?

So consider this: the extent this book leaves any mark at all, it leaves only the impression that Gannon is hiding a lot. For who? And why? Because he was paid to?
