Synthetic gasoline? Really? Like many of my generation, I was beset by propaganda of the 1970s that gasoline was a dwindling resource, and that OPEC, through its 1975 embargo, had shown the power of the "oil exporting countries" of the middle east over the rest of the world.

In this short, easily understood book, Corsi debunks the "myth" of "fossil fuels" we are fed every election to justify our support of the Middle Eastern oil exporters. Worse, today, February 3, 2016, we are about to be cast as foes of Russia who may be our greatest allies. Unlike the U.S., the U.S.S.R. set as a national goal fuel independence, and has been doing a fairly good job of this since the fall of "communism."

While the U.S.-pilfered files on synthetic oil and gasoline (the Fischer-Tropp process) like in rotting files and microfilm at the Texas A & M University, the U.S.S.R. profited from its German war booty--making Russian independence nearly certain. On the other hand, in the grip of our own oligarchs (international), the U.S. will long be in the grip of international bankers and money launderers who profit from the myth of "fossil fuel."

I found this an intriquing short read. Some familiarity with Operation Paperclip is helpful. I suspect that Dr. Corsi was able to write this book in a week--while the information therin would free the U.S. from the über-propagandists for fossil fuel forever. The Germans unlocked the secret of hydrocarbon-based fuel, and we have lost it.

I'm a scientist. The author does not seem to be or I think he would have spent more time explaining how oil is actually a renewable resource resulting from immense pressures within the earth's crust. It is clear the author is on to something, but the science is not well explained. I've always had a problem believing dead dinosaurs and algae are responsible for crude oil. The Germans during WWII found a way to make synthetic oil and it is clear that the technology has been absorbed and put on ice. How better to perpetuate demand than by making people believe that it will one day run out. Think about that.

As a petroleum geologist, I was intrigued by the title of this book and the concept of abiotic oil. I was willing to give the suject a chance and keep an open mind, after all, who doesn't like a good conspiracy? Unfortunately, this book is nothing but an incoherent rambling that fails to present any actual evidence regarding an abiotic origin of oil. Simply drilling deeper and offshore is completely unrelated to whether the source of the oil is organic or abiotic. The argument that Hubbert's peak oil curve is outdated is probably true, BUT is a function of improved technology (e.g. hydraulic fracturing) over the years rather than an "unlimited source" of oil from the mantle. Overall, an interesting read...not due to a convincing argument of abiotic oil, but more from the standpoint of viewing into the thought process of a potentially insane person. I know most people will discredit this review because I'm an industry stooge...but for fellow industry stooges interested in entertaining the idea of abiotic oil, if only to learn about a conspiracy theory, don't waste your time.

Corsi gives us the low-down on scientific debates surrounding energy issues, starting with how oil and natural gas were formed (not how you've been taught), how the Germans managed to create petroleum from coal during the Second World War, and whether we're running out of energy resources and can only be helped by "green energy" projects. (No.) Unfortunately, the book is poorly edited, with typos galore, making it difficult to recommend it more highly. Corsi's research deserved a better presentation.

An excellent read and reference regarding the deceptions and systems of ingrained LIES we all have been programmed to believe.
Kudos to J. Corsi! Why are we not seeing anything about this on AJS???

Every American should read this one. As a chemist I knew the Germans had synthesized gasoline and diesel fuel from coal. Their work proved that oil does NOT come from the remains of dinosaurs. Further, oil is not a limited resource. Just as carbon dioxide is plant food, not the cause of climate change so oil is and continues to be produced by our planet.

Dr. Corsi' book contains a wealth of information about the availability and production of oil. A major argument of Dr. Corsi is that oil does not derive from rotting plant life and dinosaur carcases from millions of years ago but is produced by the heat and pressure found inside the earth. He therefore supports the abiotic oil theory of Thomas Gold in his book The Deep Hot Biosphere : The Myth of Fossil Fuels. Thus the quantity of oil is not constrained by the amount of plants that rotted back in the earlier geological ages. Dr. Corsi marshalls a vast amount of information in support of the abiotic oil theory in his book.

The supporting evidence for the abiotic oil theory includes the German developed Fischer Tropsch process which is a process for producing synthetic gasoline and diesel fuel from coal. The United States government at the end of World War II obtained the documentation of this process, but the emphasis of this period became the utilization of the available below ground hydrocarbon resources. Thousands of pages of the proces remain untranslated in archives.

Dr. Corsi also provides information on the scientific experiments and other evidence confirming the abiotic oil theory. He discusses the evidence of Thomas Gold. But yet this evidence has been most often ignored. Instead the public has been bombarded with peak oil theories foretelling the exhaustion of oil supplies because the rotted early plant life is obviously finite. Yet over time these theories have turned out to be untrue. Dr. Corsi details how deep oil drilling and other innovations are producing more oil than ever.
