West, who was born in Larned, Kansas, attended Barton County Community College on a full baseball scholarship. He wanted to serve his country and decided to join the Army, where he was stationed at Fort Ord, California. While serving, he made the rank of sergeant in his three years of service. After his enlistment, West married and remained in California for the next 20 years. He has one son, Justin Taylor.

West believed that there had to be more to life and began his quest, studying great achievers’ lives and successes. He has devoted the last 14 years of his life preparing to write his book, “Great Personal Power.” West’s future goals are to help others to achieve success and to continue his passion for racing cars.
