A lot of old tv specials are being modernized for new formats and better televisions, but as a result they often sacrifice the original square aspect ratio to fill the screen, losing lots of visual information and the artistic intent behind framing of shots. In this case, the widescreen version of this film has these sacrifices, but they've included an original aspect ratio version that is of equal quality in terms of the 4K scan and HDR, which is very much an appreciated move for people who want the original intended experience for any given film.

I just bought this, Dec 2022. I have not tried the discs. I bought this in hopes that the digital code would still be accepted. The code has a 2018 expiration date, but following the instructions in the package I was able to redeem it. Currently, it is only available to watch through Vudu. I hope it will be returning to Movies Anywhere eventually.

I have been watching this great piece of work for decades, and have shared it with my daughter through the years. She too, loves "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" as much as I do. We have been watching it together for over thirty years every Halloween. Although I have my own copy, I am giving this copy to my daughter as a gift on her 38th birthday this Saturday. Although it was hard to find at a reasonable price today, I was able to find it on Amazon at a price that I was comfortable with. I know that she will enjoy having her very own copy to view at her leisure.

Now my grandchildren are thrilled by the same winning characters we loved as kids in the 60's and 70's. If something stays watchable through 3 to 4 generations it's classic and great.
