an EXCERPT from this book's Foreword by Barbara Marx Hubbard:
As a life long champion of conscious evolution I see The Great Shift as a seminal
contribution toward our ability to evolve consciously. The shift of evolution itself from unconscious
to conscious choice is to me the signal of the evolution of the species of Homo sapiens sapiens. As
Sri Aurobindo put it: "Man is a transitional species." Transitional toward what is a key question.
Reading The Great Shift helps us see that we are in transition to a cocreative, planetary, universal
species, the fulfillment of the aspiration of the ages, the hearts' desire of countless millions. We
gain "evolutionary eyes," and can see ourselves from the "Overview Perspective" as a species
emerging toward its birth as a universal humanity.
We can place our own yearning for greater meaning, more creative life, deeper giving of our
best into this framework and accept Robin Wood as one of our beloved planetary teachers, guides
and friends in this fabulous journey into the unknown.
Barbara Marx Hubbard,
Founder, Foundation of Conscious Evolution
Dr. Robin Wood shows brilliantly, who this complex system we live in works and where the sweet spots are that allow us to change the fate of humanity. He thereby does not limit his approach to intellectual analysis but show concrete examples of personal practices (I also recommend the Lifeshift 2020 Guidebook Companion to this book for lots of in depth personal inquiries and practical activities). With a clarity that makes it easy to comprehend his arguments he shows that it is not enough to be an activist - you have to engage on every level, be it on a personal, local or global scale. Using the integral framework he shows how being and becoming in the 21st century can lead to a conscious evolution of our world, how we can put in place the solutions that are out there and how we can turn the wheel towards a thriving future instead of certain extinction we are facing due to the challenges in our century.
Wilber, Hubbard, Spiral Dynamics, mayor philosophies and religions.
With a business mindset, but at the same time keeping the focus on which development needs to happen on "micro, meso and macro".
A guide for evolving personally, understanding the big picture of how society on a global level is developing and showing some of the critical dangers for civilization - Global warming should be known by now, but Woods thoughts on its potential impacts on society and culture were mindopening.
Many times, focussing on the macro only made me get stuck - its so big, so what can one person do about it anyways?
Thats what the Meso level was introduced for. The (for me previously) missing link between "what do I do" and "what is needed on global scale" - because Meso helps one to fous on immediate action.
If you are a person who wants to have an impact and make a difference, rather than only thinking about stuff: this is the book for you. I am also working through the connected Lifeshift workbook Lifeshift 2020 and can recommend ordering that as well.
