This theremin has incredible range! The range on this theremin respects what I call the "arm length" rule. Most set up their theremin for a playable range of about 2.5 feet. Watch out for others selling theremins where playing requirements mandate putting your hand within a couple of inches of the antenna. Ease of play is the key to my theremins. This theremin features a pitch control knob so pitch can be set to go up OR down as you move your hand toward the antenna. By adjusting this knob, you can set starting pitch and sensitivity. The Great Sounding Theremin at a Great Price also sports a quarter inch jack so you can connect it to your amp. As with most theremins, this instrument requires an amplifier to be heard. This theremin has true theremin sound - not a poor sounding square wave like some other theremins - and a strong signal that will drive your amp well. BONUS - This theremin includes at NO CHARGE a U.S. standard plug in power supply so you never have to worry about batteries. Value priced, this single antenna theremin is ready for your next gig! INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: This instrument is equipped with a U.S. standard power supply that may not be compatible with your country's power standard. Please take this into consideration when purchasing this instrument. International import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. If you are unfamiliar with this type of fee, please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – please do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.

I sent mine back because the range was ridiculously short. My hand was less than an inch away before it was out of range. Not even exaggerating.
I hate giving bad reviews but I put a lot of effort into getting what I needed for this and now its all useless. Really disappointed. 😞
They also make one that mounts on a mike stand. I would probably get that one if I bought it again just so it would be easy to play. But for the money this is a deal.
The sound of the instrument is kind of reminiscent of a violin. Sometimes with some good vibrato I can get it to sound like an alto singer sustaining a note. When fed through an amp with overdrive, it's got a very space-rock sort of feel--kind of like controllable feedback and static.
My only real issue with this instrument is that it's incredibly light. The slightest tug on the cables could knock the instrument over, but that problem can easily be fixed by tucking the cables away safely.
The theremin is a rather difficult instrument to play. It requires a good ear, steady hands, and patience. Although its action is simple enough, it still takes a lot of practice to be able to produce music. It's a great sound source, and a lot of fun to fool around with, but if you don't have access to a volume pedal (or even a kill switch might work), then you're not going to be able to unlock the full musical potential of this product.
