The screen protector was difficult to handle, especially with the first application; it did not go well. Had to throw away the first one and apply the second one. I cleaned my screen as instructed but found that even a tiny bit of dust caused a bubble to appear ... I had a lot of these "bubbles" so I tossed the first one. The use of the first screen protector apparently cleaned the surface well enough, only two bubbles appeared applying the second one ... I just let it be since they were off to the side. The anti glare works fairly well now but in bright sunlight still a little difficult to see the writing on the page. I think the new Kindles have anti-glare installed ... wish mine did. But I will keep my old one for awhile ... LOVE my Kindle. Bev
I bought a laptop sometime ago and was given the choice of matte or glossy display finish. I debated for a while and went with the matte and, surprise, I absolutely loved it! Matte screens allow you sit just about anywhere in any light and see your display perfectly. I love the Kindle but the shiny display surface are often a problem in other than perfect lighting. So when I received,a few days late unfortunately, the GreatShield and applied it, very easily, the GreatShield I was immediately pleased. It was very easy to apply, the couple of tiny bubbles were invisible during operation and eventually disappeared. This was really a significant improvement in feel, the GreatShield has less friction that the bare screen and fingerprints are not a problem unless your fingers are very greasy. I would recommend this to a friend.
When I first ordered the Kindle Fire 7"HD, I also ordered a protective case. I never considered a screen protector. My first Kindle was a touch, and didn't really require one. The first time I took the Fire outside to read, I was so disappointed. The glare was terrible!! I thought I would have to use the Touch to read, and the Fire for getting online, etc. Then someone told me about matte screen protectors, so I thought I would give it a try. None of my local retailers carried anything for the Kindle, so to Amazon I went. The choices were a little overwhelming, but after reading the reviews, I decided to go with the GreatShield product. At the time, they were three for $9.95 with free shipping. I received them a day early, and applied one earlier today. It really couldn't have been easier. I just followed the directions, and had it applied in about a minute. No bubbles, no fuss, no reapplying. Then the true test: outside I went. Much to my delight, the anti-glare worked! I couldn't be more pleased. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who likes to read outside, like myself.
I was looking for something that would actually be anti-glare. When I open my Kindle Fire HD cover anywhere but inside a building ... outside ... it becomes a mirror! So I thought this cover would cut down on the glare and enable me to read outside. With my original Kindle I could read anywhere -- by the pool, at a picnic table, etc. But The Kindle Fire HD is a mirror outdoors. And this cover may protect it, but with the cover on, there is absolutely no difference in the look. It went on without any trouble at all, but if you want anti-glare this isn't the one.
While this definitely helps with getting rid of glare, it was very difficult to apply. No matter how careful I was there always seemed to be at least one tiny air bubble that remained. The bubble was alway at a corner and it appears more like the adhesive backing is not there than a piece of dust causing the bubble. Glad it came with 3 shields because the first one I tried I ended up throwing away because the size of the piece that wouldn't adhere was to large and would be annoying. The second one still had a spot but thought I could live with it.
I am a new owner of the kindle fire HD. I found it difficult to use the device in areas that had Sun light or any where outside. The anti glare screen has solved this problem. I have not noticed any reduction in clearly of the screen. I cannot imagine using the HD fire without the anti glare screen. The install is easy, but pay attention to ensuring the screen is clean of any dust. I suggest apply the screen in a well lit environment and using the light to reflect off the screen to detect any dust.
I can never get these on. They give you 2 tabs to help assist with lining up the protective sheet, but they are both on the same edge. In their one sheet instructions, they have an illustration with a tab on the top and bottom edge, which is where I would have them. They are also about 1/8" too big, so I always end up having to cut it too get all the bubbles out. Good thing they come in a pack of 3, because I end up destroying at least one. I usually give up after trying to get the second one.
This went on my kindle much smoother than the other protectors I have used. Would rather spend a bit more on this one as opposed to having one like the Fintie that picks up every little speck of dust as soon as you reveal the sticky side, no matter how fast you move to put it on I bubbles on that one. This one is the best one I have used.
