I can honestly say that I have NEVER written a review before but I admit that that rely heavily on them when buying anything. So why write a review now and why for this particular item you ask? Well, because it is that amazing. I'm sure you are reading all kinds of reviews on this item, both good and bad, which is what is so wonderful about freedom of speach and what is meant by the saying "to each his own"!! People will say things such as how easy it was to put the screen protector on and that there really are NO BUBBLES, while others will say things such as how the screen protector has weakend their super crisp resolution. But the bottom line is, if your screen is cracked into a million pieces, let me assure you that your screen resolution will look a lot worse (and by the way, since we are on the subject, there is barely any difference in screen resolution with the protector on or off, but I digress)!! Which brings me to my point...I bought this particular screen protector for my iPad because I hate applying these things and no matter how hard you try, there are always annyoing air bubbles which this one promised not to have. More importantly, I bought it to protect my shiny new iPad from everyday scratches, because the screen seems so delicaate. Well, one day my 10 year old son had the iPad sitting on the kitchen counter, directly under the cabinets. He reached up to get a cup out of the cabinet, and knocked down a very heavy coffee mug which of course, landed directly on the iPad. When this heavy mug hit my iPad with incredibe force, the coffe mug, which was made of like armor, broke but the iPad screen was absolutely fine! The EZ Shield took the brunt of the damage as there was a smooshed up gash in it but the iPad screen was perfectly fine and there wasn't a scratch on it. Now, if you happen to have an iPhone or an iPod already, or even if you don't but you know anyone who does, you already know a large number of people who have fallen victim to the "delicate screen syndrome" related to all of Apple's prodcuts. The "i" products (iPad, iPhone, iPod, et.) are WELL KNOWN for having incredibly delicate screens that will crack/shatter/explode unexplainably with barely any force. For those of you who are all too familiar with the "Apple scam" defined as the steady flow of massive revenue they get for replacing all of these cracked and broken iPad, iPhone, & IPod screens, you will understand what an incredble feat this was that mine didn't suffer a single mark on it! If GreatShield offers a line of screen protectors for all of Apple's "i" produts and everybody used them, it would literally shut down that very lucrative line of business for Apple! Bottom Line: BUY IT! It will save your screen from the impending, inevitable, and most certain future it faces of needed the screen to be replaced at some point. Ordered this so that I could see the iPad screen more easily in the sunlight. It arrived quickly and I was able to put it on my iPad in less than a minute without any bubbles or issues. However, I get migraines that are triggered very easily. One of the things that triggers them is looking at pixelated images. After using the iPad for about 30 minutes, I developed a migraine. I have removed the item and will order one by the same company I got my anti-glare film when I purchased my original iPad. That one was a pain to put on, but it did not trigger a migraine! Not a problem with the manufacturers of this item and I will not return it because it is not their fault. It worked the way they said it would, but is just not useable for me because of my tendency towards migraine headaches.

I am sitting outside in the sun typing up this review on my iPad 3 and the matte screen protector is allowing me to see the actual screen. So obviously this does work. However, I do think the manufacturers need to figure out how to cate a version of this that does not negatively affect the quality of the retina display.
I have this item on my iPad 2 as well and would give it 5 stars there but the effect on the iPad 3 retina screen is so noticeable that I have to reduce serious stars for it.
Here are the pros and cons:
PROS
- extremely easy to administer. Of all the brands I have used like bodyguards and zagg and armor shield this is by far the easiest one. You can administer it dry and there will be no bubbles and no orange skin effect.
- you can also minstall it wet using some left over solution from other brands.
- it seriously reduces glare so it makes it easier to use the iPad in outdoor situations as well and under harsh lighting.
- it reduces figerprinting significantly, so no constant wiping of the screen. Very happy with that.

CONS
- makes the retina display fuzzy.this is very noticeable as I said. I am even considering pulling it off as it is really marginalizing the value of retina density.
- when using it outside you will notice that there is a fine raster in the actual protector which also is visible. Almost like fine math paper.
- the colors when examined closely, become blurred through the screen. Almost like youre watching through a fine layer of RGB pixels between your screen and the protector.

All in all I would recommend this for the iPad 2 but not for the iPad 3. The retina display is too valuable to be marginalized by a screen protector that does not maintain the displays crispness.

This protector is a high quality protector and will safeguard your ipad however with the ipad's new retina display this protector degrades it, so the money you paid for the newer version that is easier on your eyes is put to waste. Also, the screen creates a horrible glare that the ipad gen 3 doesn't have on its own. Lastly, the protector creates an awkward oily look to the screen. I tried cleaning and recleaning the screen and protector before I realized it was the protector itself and not actual oil. I tested this hypothesis by placing the protector on several printed books, documents, and even the box the protector came in and on each the quality of the words are substantially less and the protector makes things look oily. Not worth the money especially after dropping so much money on the 3rd gen.
