A contract killer. A governor's son. A gunshot heard around the world.
"Electrifying and gripping. The Greatest Good is the real deal, a thrilling masterpiece!" - The International Review of Books
Garrison Chase has one shot left. Finally back on duty after a year-long suspension for insubordination, the black-ops-turned-FBI agent is desperate to prove he can be a team player. But he’s horrified when the first day of his assignment goes sideways after his house nearly explodes and the man he’s supposed to protect catches a sniper’s bullet.
Relieved his charge was only wounded by the hit, Chase wonders if he was the actual target. So when he’s ordered off the case and away from the victim, the hot-headed former operative refuses to obey even if it could cost his career… or his life.
Can Chase unravel a sinister conspiracy before he’s permanently out of action?
The Greatest Good is the pulse-pounding first novel in the Garrison Chase Thriller series. If you like dogged heroes, shocking twists, and heated battles for justice, then you’ll love Craig N. Hooper’s electrifying tale.

About the author

Craig Hooper is the author of the Garrison Chase series. He was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Growing up, he played lots of sports, and was an avid reader of action adventure and suspense novels. After earning a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from McMaster University, Craig left Canada and moved to Hawaii to pursue a lifelong dream of surfing.
After years of traveling and surfing, Craig settled in Southern California where he earned two masters' degrees and began adjunct teaching. While teaching part-time, he wrote his first standalone novel, a religious thriller. Though it never did get published, it spurred Craig on to keep writing.
Craig, along with his wife Janine, moved to Central California where he took a job in academia and began work on his first book in the suspense series starring Garrison Chase. Years later, he landed a publishing contract with Endeavour Media for THE GREATEST GOOD.
When Craig's not busy writing his next book in the series, you'll find him surfing or hanging out on the beach with his wife and three children.

An agent with attitude and humour. A sniper who misses ... on purpose? The son of a governor who refuses to stay protected. But maybe he's NOT whom they're trying to kill?
All of this combines to make The Greatest Good a first-in-series that will keep you coming back for more. And I did. Hooper did not disappoint!
There are some gaps in this book, due in part to a lack of a deeper back story, and simply some rookie errors. Not that I am an author in my own right, I just pick these things up.
That said I always try to give the book 50 pages or the first few chapters to whet the appetite and the author hooked me enough that I continued with the second half of the book better paced and I had pieced together enough information that I felt I had a better picture of things.
If you like thrillers, cop books etc you will likely enjoy this book
Spoiler alert!!
The bad:
-A guy gets shot with a 0.50 caliber round in the clavicle and is barely hurt. Really?
-A back door magically appears in a warehouse.
-Miscellaneous bad editing errors.

It's even written in the 1st person and with a touch of self humour.
About 80% of the way through it seems to lose something. Heading towards the end it goes into an extended explanation of why everything is happening. Surely the 'baddie' would just get on with it. So this sort of detracts from the 'reality' of this type of story?
It's the first of a series so I'll give a little leeway.
I'm looking forward to the next one. Well written.

Not really a heart stopping read.

I thought I'd got it all worked out after the first couple of chapters, how wrong was I?!! Fantastic story line that will keep you enthralled and wanting more, please tell me there's more to come.
