It's too bad there aren't pop/rock idols like Boy George anymore. Nothing risque, no gender bending, everything in pop music today is bland, bland, bland--and boring. This latest greatest hits collection underlines why Culture Club scaled the charts so many years ago. Of course, you still must view all the videos to get the full experience, but this collection is better than the one I've owned all these years--"This Time: The First Four Years" from back in 1987. This new greatest hits includes all of their top 40 singles, particularly "Mistake No.3", which was missing from several previous compilations. Thankfully, mercifully, there are no extended versions here! In fact, in the first 12 tracks there's only one real dud, "White Boy (Dance Mix)" which I really could have done without. The first 12 tracks range, because when Culture Club were great, they were really great like "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me", "Karma Chameleon", "It's A Miracle" and "Victims". Then they have their good songs like "Time (Clock Of The Heart)", "I'll Tumble 4 Ya", "Church Of The Poison Mind", "Miss Me Blind", "The War Song" and "Move Away". Some of their ballads missed the mark like "Black Money", "Mistake No.3" and "Cold Shoulder". Of their newer material from 1999, "I Just Wanna Be Loved" and "Your Kisses Are Charity (Blouse and Skirt Mix)" are pretty good after what was then a 13 year separation.

Everything is digitally remastered, making this greatest hits sound crisp and current. This is truly an artifact from a time when variety was the spice to the music business, and moved millions. Now, everyone is a clone. If you want a slice of originality and are daring enough to take a trip back in time, then you might want to check this disc out.

The CD is the most definitive Culture Club greatest hits CD released. "At Worst...The Best of Boy George and Culture Club" doesn't even compare to this gem. Naturally it includes all of the radio singles, but it also include some album cuts that were popular such as "White Boy," and "Black Money." What makes this set even better is that it includes three of the singles from Culture Clubs 1999 album "Don't Mind If I Do." This CD was only released overseas. Fans of the group will easily fall in love with the single "I Just Wanna Be Love," which was the first single released from Don't Mind If I Do. There are no Boy George solo songs on the this CD, it's all Culture Club. The music is timeless. All of the songs sound great, especially "Mistake Number 3."

I've been a huge fan of Culture Club since their heyday back in the 80's. I own pretty much every release they've had including all the remastered releases of their original albums.

This is by far the best compilation to come out in the States. The sound is superb!! crystal clear, you get all the singles released in the U.S., the booklet contains pictures of the singles covers which is nice to look at. There always seemed to be something missing in every Culture Club compilation released in the States, but this should satisfy the average Culture Club fanatic. It's nice to have Mistake #3 here, in my opinion, it's one of CC's finest recordings, even though it didn't do well in the charts.

If you were to own one Culture Club CD, this if the one, get it!!!

Culture Club's Greatest Hits is really the best collection of the group's career. They made quite an impact the first 3 albums. They must have been inspired by '60s Motown soul, because it's really felt in the songs. Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Time were strong in '82, but the '83 songs on here were superior and better. Karma Chameleon, Church, the excellent Miss Me Blind (still my favorite), and Victims are among their best. Move Away sounds like Miss, but they never captured the success of album #2. Boy George had a glamorous image, but the music stood out more than that. He managed to have a successful solo career after the group took a hiatus, even that solid Teddy Riley-produced debut. The 1999 songs on here are just as impressive, continuing where they left off in the '80s. I can see why they wanted to take a break to focus on solo and individual efforts. As a band, they were a cohesive musical unit with smart pop craftsmanship. They rivaled Duran Duran in the live band element as they duked it out for chart space in the '80s. I hope that they consider making new music in the future, because their songs still hold up over 20 years later!!!!!

There are other Culture Club collections out there - some including Boy George's solo material too. But for the best sounding most complete, this is the CD to choose. Not only are there more songs than on the others - they truly represent what made this group great! Better yet - they never sounded as good as they do here! BUY THIS CD!

It's nice to finally have a Culture Club CD with every charting US hit. As an extra treat, we also get the three charting UK singles from their 90s reunion. Unfortunately, this disc leaves off two Top 40 UK hits--The Medal Song & God Thank You Woman. These are not major omissions, but for the sake of being complete, they should've just included them. There's certainly enough space on the disc!
