Format: Audio CD
Guy Mitchell always pleased his adoring audiences; just one listen to this album will tell you why! He had a tremendous command of his repertoire and he could tackle any new song and make it sound beautiful seemingly effortlessly--although of course it really wasn't all that easy; Guy's talent carried him through every time. The sound quality on these tracks is excellent and that will appeal to both Guy's fans and newcomers to Guy's artistry.

"Singing the Blues" was one of Guy's biggest hits; he handles this like the pro he was and always will remain! His voice is strong and his excellent diction enhances his performance all the more. "Feet Up" has a good melody and Guy does this without a hitch--there's some backup but Guy never really needed backup, he always sounded great on his own! "Side by Side" gets the royal treatment from Guy who delivers this with panache; and listen for more gems like "Sparrow in the Tree Top" with Guy crooning at his very best; the country flavored "My Shoes Keep Walking Back" that Guy delivers faultlessly; a fun tune entitled "Sippin' Soda" that my father loved; "Rock-A-Billy" with just the right arrangement as Guy sings this very well; "Cuff Of My Shirt" with its waltz-like melody; "Call Rosie on the Phone" with Guy Mitchell squarely front and center; a wonderful "My Heart Cries For You" that Guy makes sublime with his sensitive delivery; a solid "My Truly, Truly Fair" that so many people enjoy when the great Guy Mitchell sings it; "Knee Deep In The Blues" with a bluesy country flavor that works wonders for this ballad as Guy sings it without a single superfluous note; "Cloud Lucky Seven" with its upbeat melody; and Guy's rendition of "Music, Music, Music" would surely make Teresa Brewer smile!

Guy Mitchell was right up there with Tony Bennett - Frankie Laine - Nat King Cole, Jerry Vale,His sound was so distinctive I can actually feel 1951 when he was at the zenith of this career. We just dont have singers like these anymore.

Being 'baby boomers', this album brought back great memories! Songs we heard on the "Hit Parade" television show of the 50's. Highly recommend!

I saw him in a musical western when i was a child and thought he was the neatest. when i saw his cd on amazon i just had to have it. his voice had change very little since that movie. Strange how you can remember something after so many years.

I bought this CD for one song - Heartaches by the number. I have the Ray Price version and the more recent covers by Dwight Yoakam and Rosanne Cash and I wanted to hear the big hit version by Guy Mitchell.

Well, it's bloody awful and so is the rest of the album. But, I gave it 5 stars because it really is so bad that it's good and, if you buy the used version you can have a good laugh for less than five dollars. If you have teenage children that you need to discipline lock them in a room and make them listen to this stuff for an hour. You will break even the most rebellious teenager.
