Bearing in mind that a study found that less than 0.7% of peer-reviewed scientific articles published between 1991 and 2011 (John Cook et al .2013; Environmental Research Letters 8 024024) - from a total of 11,944 articles- refuted anthropogenic climate changes' occurrence, Senator Inhofe's book is a truly astounding example of ignoring facts and scientific evidence.
It's like a judge presided over a court case where the murder was not only observed by several witnesses killing someone, but also videoed, recorded in the act, left DNA, fingerprints and fiber samples all over the corpse and himself, wrote that they did the act in blood on the wall, and then who signed a confession, finding the murder completely innocent, and then determining that the murder was done by some huge conspiracy, who framed an innocent man.
The idea that climate change scientists are colluding in some massive conspiracy is a paranoid delusion of extreme proportions.
The fact that the writer of this book has a senior position in the US Government makes it more of a horror story than an autobiography.

The book gets off to rather an unfortunate start on the cover with the absurd contention that thousands of scientists working independently over decades, publishing countless papers in peer reviewed journals, have somehow managed to coordinate, or at least are complicit in constructing and perpetuating a "hoax". The enormity of that accusation is staggering in its implications and the lack of understanding of science and the scientific process and more importantly perhaps, the scientific community. However, one can reasonably assume that it is intentional and is basically intended to misinform. mislead, and support a political agenda rather than contribute to the global warming discussion. The problem I see with this type of book--and the potential harm it does--is that many readers don't have the background and/or have not done enough reading to really understand the science being discussed and, therefore, cannot assess its validity. Much of what the author says about climate science is simply incorrect and easily verified as such. Probably the reason that this book has such a pronounced bimodal distribution of reviews (i.e. either 1 star or 5 stars) is that readers are equally divided among those with and without some science education. The author's discussion of regulation and government policy is where his real expertise lies and worthy of reading & considering. That really is a key point about global climate change--what steps should, or should not be taken by governments. Even in this discussion, there are several (better) books available that provide some objective analysis of costs and efficacy of various proposals, rather than political campaigning for a particular agenda.Read more ›

Someone who has a HUGE portion of his financiers tied to oil and gas should not be given any credence when it comes to "disputing" what green energy can do.

Utterly despicable, ignorant, the 'senator' should be ashamed, held on charges for crimes against humanity and crimes against the planet. Just ask any Katrina, Sandy victim, Texas or California farmer or family suffering from 80% exceptional drought with no end in sight for the next 30 years and beyond. The 'senator' is an hypocrite, cynical fella, incapable of any love for his fellow man, of giving thanks to, or caring for the planet that keeps him alive.

The 'book' is a sewer of foul lies, falsehoods, misrepresentations and foul propaganda from beginning to end. Not worth the trees it is printed on, trees that gave oxygen to his lungs, and life to countless beings including his own.

The 'senator' has not done a single bit of research all his life other than searching for the ad section in the newspaper, nor published in any reputable peer reviewed scientific journal, neither have any of the 'scientists' he quotes. Where are the publications in Nature, Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Nobel Prizes in Chemistry of Physics ? None. Zero. Nada. Absolutely nothing. Oldest trick in the bully book: call the others a hoax so that the bully's hoax goes unnoticed. This 'book' is a hoax.

I can't believe ANYONE could listen to a man who got his BA in economics 40 years ago about scientific data! Funny how the United Nations and NASA, who have no affiliations to any political party, have undeniable evidence and facts that global warming is due to human activity. Also people that disagree with this might say "oh these scientists would be out of jobs if they didn't say this" Umm lots of these scientists are NOT paid to do this research and even if global warming wasn't caused by humans, they would still have lots of important scientific topics to explore and get paid for. Come on people! When oil companies are being threatened with physical evidence that they are the reasons for global warming, don't you think they will do EVERYTHING in their power to persuade people it isn't so? I wouldn't doubt that this guy is being funded by any of these oil companies. Also Jim Inhofe often repeats his claim that human influenced climate change is a hoax and impossible because "God's still up there" and it is "outrageous" and arrogant for people to believe human beings are "able to change what He is doing in the climate." Sorry but as a Christian myself I believe God created us with free will to do what's right or wrong, and in this case we are destroying the planet with our actions of using fossil fuels. It's not hard to understand people, what happens to the pollution we see in the sky? does it magically disappear? No, it continues to stay in the atmosphere creating an oven like state, especially since we are chopping all the trees down and creating way too much emissions that the remaining trees and plants can take in. Global warming should not be a political issue but a humanity issue. I believe you can be republican and still want to help save our planet.Read more ›
