Editorial Reviews

Jonah Hill and Russell Brand reunite with the director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall in this outrageous comedy about Aaron Green (Hill), an aspiring music executive, who has 72 hours to deliver the wild rock legend, Aldous Snow (Brand), from London to Los Angeles for a comeback concert. In order to keep his job, Aaron must navigate a minefield of mayhem and debauchery to get Snow to the world famous Greek Theatre on time! From the producer of Knocked Up and Superbad comes the movie that’s “a raucous, rowdy good time” (Ty Burr, The Boston Globe).

Instead of reviewing the plot to one of the funniest movies of the year, which can be found in all other reviews, I will focus on what you get with this 2-disc Blu-Ray edition.

This set includes both the theatrical and an unrated version, which includes approximately 4 additional minutes.

    Additional Features:
    3 Documentaries -
"Getting Him to the Greek" which includes behind the scenes clips and interviews with the cast and crew
"Getting in Tune with the Greek" the writing and recording of the music of 'Infant Sorrow'
"The Making of African Child" a look at the making of the music video

    Music extras -
Hilarious music videos for 5 songs from the film
Concert footage of the performances of 7 additional songs
Karaoke! Sing along with 15 of Aldous Snow's hits

Alternate Ending - "Riding Daphne" (VERY entertaining!)

Audio Commentary - the feature length commentary includes Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, Elisabeth Moss, Rose Byrne, director Nicholas Stoller, and producer Rodney Rothman.

Also includes - Deleted and extended scenes, alternate intro 'The Castle,' two gag reels, Line-o-Rama, and cast auditions.

If you liked the movie you will not be disappointed with this Collector's Edition.

Crass, crude, vulgar and graphic... what a perfect combination for humor. Jonah Hill and Russel Brand are a fantastic mix of commedy (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and that same chemistry payed dividends again in the separate story in the same timeline. If you're offended easily, stay away. If you love booze, boobs, inappropriate profiling and profanity... get it like I did and laugh your butt off.

This movie surpassed by expectations. It looked funny from the previews I'd seen and it was WAY better than I expected. Watching it never gets old. The only moderately negative thing I could say about it is do NOT watch this one with your parents or parents do not watch with your children. I'm 23 and would be exceedingly uncomfortable if my parents watched this with me.

Jonah Hill and Russell Brand knock it out of the park again (as much as they can with this script anyways) - both hilarious. Sean Combs and Rose Byrne are also hilarious. The movie is worth a watch just for them and to find out what happens to Aldous Snow after "Forgetting Sarah Marshall".

Now the (very) bad: the plotline was terrible. It felt slapdash and poorly thought out. The ending was very meh - boring, preachy, and clichéd. I felt like a strict Mormon parent edited this for appropriate content - essentially killing the positivity and complexity of Aldous Snow.

Characters' personalities and backstories changed with annoying frequency. The rock 'n roll hijinx were predictable, boring, and incredibly amateur. Again, Puritanical editing/writing killed all the fun. Tedious in the manner of a high school sophomore's "Dude I was so *wasted* last night" stories. Heads up screenwriters: vomiting in and of itself does not a good/"crazy rock 'n roll" story make. There was a (much toned down) blatant ripoff of a Pulp Fiction scene - very lazy screenwriting. Very disappointing

This is essentially writer/director Nicholas Stoller's "African Child". (You'll 'get it' when/if you see this movie). Or terrible producer maybe? I dunno but something went wrong.

Bottom line/summary: Aldous Snow deserved bigger, better, and much more clever. It's a pity this film fell so flat. It was a great opportunity for something really clever and hilarious, and I would love to know sometime what happened to make it, well, not.

That said, again - if you're a fan of Brand or Hill, it's worth a watch for them. Despite the script, they're still very funny guys.

Brand and Hill are great, but P. Diddy steals the show in some scenes.

Right up there with Superbad, American Pie, the Hangover and Caddyshack.

Only "off" part was the end...look like they were desperate to wrap it up.

Despite a few overly outrageous scenes, I really liked this and especially enjoyed Russell Brand's performance. He is convincing, funny, and ultimately very appealing in this film. I liked Jonah Hill very much in this, as well. If you're not in the mood for an outrageous comedy with lots of sex, drugs, rock 'n roll, and bad behavior, don't bother; but otherwise there's a lot to like here and quite a few laughs, as well. All the actors are convincing and funny.

Russell Brand should be making more movies -- he's quite a talented guy. (And he does all his own singing, as well.)

OK - so I'm a grown woman - 50 yrs old - not a 20 something guy- and I will say that I just LOVE this movie. it's so screwy, so full of craziness - but so funny, so well written- never a dull moment. some real laugh out loud moments. If you haven't seen it and you're a fan of zany comedy, this is one for you.

Funny movie, but not for under 18 years old. Better than Sara Marshall, better than Hang Over slightly. The Russell Brand Character from SM is the center of this wild Rock and Roll fantasy. Jonah Hill has to get Brand to LA for a concert or it's his career. Drugs and sex orgy from London to NY to Vegas, to LA. Be prepared for nudity, adult situations and creative gross outs. P-Diddy, Russell Brand are all energy.
