Ok seriously for $2.99 you could not get a better understanding of Greek Mythology. I won't say it is written at a child's level, but it does give a very simple understanding of not only the history of Greek Mythology but also the characters within it. It goes in depth into the Titans and Gods and other deities of the culture, but my favorite of course was the section on heroes.
What made this book great was that it gave you all the details you would need to understand further Greek text. For example, I decided to read Odyssey by Homer after this and it was great. I have heard things about Homer's books being hard to grasp but having an understanding of the characters of ancient Greece and how the people thought of their gods gave me a great perspective that helped in a book report I wrote.
Stand alone, this book has little value. But if you take the knowledge that $2.99 can get you, you'd be surprised at how much more immersed you will be in the world around you.
EDIT: My one suggestion is a key to help readers pronounce certain names and items.
No stories here really either just this is Joe blow he is xx and so forth. Not even one reference either to recommend where to go or what to read to see these stories. Kinda worthless really. It is not even a good who's who.
Terrible job if you ask me.
This is a great book for anyone interested in learning more about the basics of Greek mythology. The author went into great detail to share all the myths that have been carried down through the years. It was certainly interesting. Some of I knew, like how the Christians tried to re-create the pagan holidays and all. It was a very informative read!
Brave and handsome god of war, Ares.
