Unclogged double vanity sinks

After using the entire bottle in two applications and flushing with boiling water 4-5 times, my double vanity sinks finally unclogged from standing water. In my case, seems you might need to give the product time to break down the clogging matter.

Water was not draining for either sink and using a plunger just moved water from sink to the other. The clog was definitely past the traps and deep enough to block the shared drain. Baking soda and vinegar did not work.

After the first application, we did try plunging again. The standing water became black and foamy so maybe the clog was starting to break up that a second application was needed.

When we noticed that the water was draining very slow after the second application, we kept flushing both sinks with boiling water until things improved. The time to boil a fresh pot between flushes might have a part in this.

Our only possible complaint is that there didn’t seem to be two quarts worth in the bottle. However, I have no record of the first application’s measurement to confirm anything.

I'd give it ten stars if I could. This stuff broke up clogs that 2 full bottles of Maximum strength Drano, a 30 foot electric auger, and even one of those crazy plumbing air guns couldn't crack a dent in. I don't know what's in this stuff, but if you have a clog or backed up drains, get this before you call the plumber. We bought two bottles to start- poured half of one down the tub drain, and waited about 6 hours. There was improvement, but not a total clearance. So we poured the other half bottle down the drain in the tub, and half a bottle of the other down the toilet in the same bathroom. Waited overnight, and the next morning, boiled water, and poured the boiling water down both. You need to use BOILING water- if your house is cold, put a space heater in front of the toilet bowl for at least 15 minutes, just to keep it from cracking from the temperature change with the boiled water- and be generous- I think we put about 5x 3-gallon buckets of boiled water down each drain. Within 5 minutes of doing it, we heard the clog basically clear itself completely. Our drains run fabulous now. The shower doesn't fill up from slow draining, and this keeps clogs from even starting.

I keep this stuff on hand at all times. The hot water is key- and let the stuff sit as long as possible first. A good 8 hours, if you can. Anytime now that we notice the drains slowing or backing up a bit, we use this. It's a maintenance product too, so we use about 1/3 of a bottle every 3-4 months, even if it doesn't clog, just to keep everything moving. The best part is that it won't destroy your drains- it's not caustic. It definitely has a smell, but it's no worse than any other drain cleaner, kind of a slight sulphur smell, but that goes away after 24 hours. Have also bought the septic tank version by mistake - different products, so I gave it to my dad, and he loves it too.

Love how receptive the manufacturer is to questions. This stuff saved us thousands in plumbing bills we didn't have the money for, and worked when nothing else did- it was kind of a last desparate measure when we bought it; I wasn't expecting much so I am incredibly impressed. The only downside is that it usually isn't available for overnight or same day delivery with Prime, so it's better to keep some around in case there's an emergency. I did find it at Lowe's and Home Depot, in store, for a few dollars more- but no one else seems to carry it and Amazon is actually a little cheaper. I can't stress how pivotal the boiling water is though- don't skip that step. And if you have a severe clog you will probably need to do two rounds- but it's still exponentially cheaper than a plumber. If you recently put another brand of Drain cleaner in that didn't solve the problem, wait a day so this doesn't mix with it- this stuff is enzyme based, but you don't want a chemical mix up.

First of all, you have to know that my husband & I are senior citizens that live on a limited income. So we don't have money to hire a plumber when we have a problem with the pipes. And both of us are handicap, with my husband having open heart surgery recently. Just wanted you to know why I was really hoping that this drainage opener would work for us.

We have 2 bathrooms in my house, one on each end of the house. The bathroom that I call my bathroom was the one that gave us trouble. When I flushed it, the water did not go all the way down. I tried it several times with no luck. Then I plunged and plunged it with no luck. So I got here on Amazon looking for something that might unstop my toilet. This product had the best reviews and also sounded as if it would be easy for me to use. I was so excited to get it. Well I did as the instructions suggested. I poured the whole container down the toilet and let it sit for 24 hours. After 24 hours I boiled some water on the stove and poured it into the toilet and flushed. Still no luck. So several more times I boiled water and tried to flush it down the toilet. Then my husband told me that my tub was probably part of the problem because the toilet & the tub drain were connected together. So I got back on Amazon and ordered another container. This time when I got it I poured some down the tub drain and the rest down the toilet. Again I waited 24 hours, boiled water, poured it down the toilet and down the tub drain. Toilet still would not flush. I plunged both the toilet and the tube drain and still no luck. So next I came back here and ordered two more containers. One container for the toilet and one for the tub drainage. Once again I waited 24 hours, poured boiled water down both the toilet and the tub drain--and plunged and plunged with no results. For hours after that I kept pouring boiled water down the toilet and down the tub drain. By then I was crying because I had no idea what we were going to do because we just did not have the money to pay a plumber. I also have a medical problem that makes me a prisoner of my bathroom so it was almost a medical necessity for me to have the use of my bathroom.

Finally a friend of mine had her husband to come over and crawl under our house and take the pipe apart that went to my bathroom. My husband could not do this because of his heart condition. What he found was a wad of toilet tissue plugging up the pipe. Now I have never put anything down my toilet but toilet paper so that made sense about what he found. I just don't understand why this drainage opener did not work after all the good reviews that I found and with all the bottles of it bought.

If this had worked, I would have ordered some to keep for a maintenance dose--using one about every 2 months. I am so disappointed.

Phew, so relieved. After a whole day of horrid stuff coming up in both bathrooms and 25 buckets, I saw this on Amazon. I put the whole amount down the first loo and was confused as to which loo but it said 'any'. Then I was frightened to flush once as it recommends to distribute the water as I thought it would come up the shower drain and be wasted. So I slowly poured two bottles of water using the empty container into the loo, left for 8 hrs then brilliant. Everything sorted. Thank goodness. I used this product to clear a badly blocked toilet. I put the whole bottle down at 10:00pm & left it until 11:00am the following morning, unfortunately it didn’t clear the blockage completely so I called out the water board who confirmed that the main drain was clear & that the blockage must still be in the toilet itself. I have given this product 4 stars because it took longer than the 12 hours & I thought I was going to have to buy another product to clear the blockage but after just another day or so it finally cleared. I would definitely buy this product again as it does clear blockages & I can only assume that the toilet was badly blocked & to be fair I had tried a few different products which were useless. Definitely recommend.

Works a charm on sink and shower traps. Hair - whether it's from shaving or just washing / showering always seems to end up in the trap, resulting in a reduced flow of water and the dreaded 'gurgles'. This stuff works remarkably well in dissolving the gunk and restoring proper flow to the water flowing to drains.

It's not as corrosive as many others (that rely on sodium hydroxide to do the dissolving), but does take a bit longer. Follow the instructions on the bottle and you won't go far wrong.

As I mentioned above it's nowhere near as corrosive as many products out there but please do take sensible precautions as it is designed to dissolve hair and it can't tell the difference between the hair and skin on you and the stuff in the trap.
